AWESOME HUMAN ALERT #3! Okaaay, here we go, our final summer student announcement! Just like a sunny prairie afternoon, this woman is bright and energetic, and we are happy to welcome her to our team 😀

Anshruta is a third-year marketing student at the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan and brings knowledge and experience in social media and is ready to bring her creative magic to the Foundation. Working at Saskatoon Community Foundation strongly aligns with her own values and priorities and the way she tries to live her life - ‘creating a community where everyone belongs’. She is looking forward to showcasing her skills and putting her best foot forward in everything the summer student marketing team does to help bring an exciting project to life in August.

Anshruta is someone who enjoys reading. While she likes to say she enjoys every genre to sound studious, she admits she is especially a sucker for romance novels. She also enjoys fantasy and history books. Nothing makes her happier than gloomy, rainy weather, although summer remains her favorite season. Traveling and visiting places with beautiful scenery is something she enjoys greatly and hopes to continue doing throughout her university years and beyond. She has already started pursuing that dream by visiting Paris over winter break.

Outside of academics and travel, Anshruta enjoys cooking. However, she is mostly skilled in making traditional Nepali dishes and jokes that she is not very good at cooking anything outside of that spectrum.

Welcome to the team!

AWESOME HUMAN ALERT #2! It’s Friyay! We are kicking off the weekend with another summer student announcement 🤩

Meet Maariyah. Maariyah has joined Saskatoon Community Foundation as a summer marketing coordinator along with two other fellow students. She is very grateful to have been given the opportunity to contribute to the organization and support the wonderful community here in Saskatoon. During her time as a summer student, Maariyah hopes to relay a message that will showcase the impact that the Foundation has had and continues to have on making meaningful connections in the community.

Maariyah is a recent graduate at the University of Saskatchewan where she received her Bachelor of Commerce degree along with a Certificate in Global Studies. Prior to this, she attended Saskatchewan Polytechnic where she completed her Diploma in Marketing. Post graduation, Maariyah is looking to earn experience in domains related to her degree to build a strong foundation for her career.

Maariyah has been a resident of Saskatoon for almost 15 years and being a fan of the outdoors, she appreciates the wonderful nature that the city has to offer. She often takes strolls by the river with her friends and family. Outside of the office, Maariyah’s always jumping between hobbies, from sewing, to baking, to reading; she enjoys learning new skills that challenge her.

Welcome to the team!

AWESOME HUMAN ALERT #1!

This summer is going to be fantastic. Aside from warm weather, and winter being done 🤞 we are happy to announce that we have three new summer marketing students who have joined our team 😀

Meet Camryn. She is entering her final year of university in the fall, graduating next spring with a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in marketing.

Camryn moved to Saskatoon from Winkler, Manitoba to pursue her university studies over the last 4 years. While not originally from Saskatoon, Camryn’s parents and grandparents have lived and studied in the city, which makes Saskatoon a special place for her. She loves the heartwarming, tight community feel of Saskatoon and the prairies and is excited to be a part of the Foundation to contribute to giving back to the community.

Camryn is looking forward to helping plan and execute a special event this summer. She is excited to build meaningful relationships with people in the community and learn about their stories. In her free time Camryn loves to spend time outside, go to new coffee shops, spend time with friends and do anything crafty.

As summer approaches, we find ourselves reflecting on the devastating wildfires that impacted northern Saskatchewan last year - and on the extraordinary way communities came together in response.

In moments of crisis, people across our region stepped up with compassion, urgency, and collaboration to support displaced residents and families.
At the Saskatoon Community Foundation, we were honoured to help mobilize support when emergent needs arose, while stewarding the generosity of donors who care deeply about Saskatoon and communities across our province. Through philanthropic contributions, alongside partnerships with the City of Saskatoon - Your Local Government , the Saskatoon Fire Department and community-based organizations, we were able to help fund social, cultural, and recreational programming for evacuees during the 2025 wildfires.

We are incredibly humbled to have received a medal of recognition from the Emergency Management Office and the Saskatoon Fire Department. This recognition belongs to every person, organization, donor, volunteer, and partner who chose to show up for others during a difficult time.

It is a powerful reminder that in times of uncertainty, community matters most💙

Meet Anna! She has the lovliest, calming, steadfast energy and already we know that we can rely on her to work some administrative finance magic. Oh, and she has the most delightful sparkle in her eyes and is so kind you walk away from a conversation feeling happy from the inside out 🤗

Anna Babchuk joined the Saskatoon Community Foundation as a Financial Assistant and is excited to contribute to the organization’s work supporting the community through charitable giving. She values being part of a team that helps connect generous donors with people and organizations in need, creating meaningful support and positive impact within the community.

Anna brings experience in the non-profit sector through her work as an Administrative Coordinator with the Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Saskatchewan. After moving to Canada three years ago, Anna continued her involvement in community-focused and charitable work. Prior to coming to Canada, she was also involved in charitable work with children in Ukraine, an experience she found especially meaningful and rewarding.
In her free time, Anna enjoys baking for friends and family, spending time playing board games, and exploring the outdoors. She has also recently discovered a love for camping and enjoys experiencing Saskatchewan’s natural beauty.

Welcome to the team, Anna!

It’s the little things. The quiet kindness that shows up in DMs, the smile and nod from a person walking by you on the street, or the simple offer of a free plant 🌱💚 The human writing this post bought tomato plants off Marketplace this morning and this little exchange made my heart burst. So let’s show some community love to these sweet folks with some kind comments AND if you are obsessed with tomatoes like I am, go get some - they deliver to Saskatoon! BuffaloStone Orchard

We are so very excited to announce one of our new Philanthropic Advisors! Meet Bobby-Jo, a warm, kind-hearted human who has the brightest smile that leaves you feeling like you just received the best hug. She has been working since she was 14 (hello hardcore work ethic), where she started out delivering packages in a multi-floor office. It kept her busy, taught her responsibility, and the value of hard work. Her favourite food is Chicken Biryani and notes that if she could only eat one food for the rest of her life, it would be this deliciousness.

Bobby-Jo is inspired by the power of local philanthropy to create lasting impact in our community. She feels honoured to help donors turn their values and passions into meaningful support for causes that matter most to them. She loves building relationships, connecting people with purpose, and seeing how generosity can strengthen Saskatoon for generations to come.

In her (very little), coveted spare time, she enjoys waking up early at 5:30, soaking up the stillness and quietness of the day where no one needs her for anything. She is very involved in Métis Local, Gabriel Dumont Local 11 where she serves as Council Secretary. This provides a meaningful connection for her family with their culture by preserving community relationships, celebrations, and Métis traditions now, and for the future.

Welcome to the team!
