On June 4, 2026, we wrapped up a very successful two-day meeting with the On-Reserve Income Assistance Workers at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon. These meetings are held every quarter, and they are one of the larger events that we host. The event was very well attended with over 100 attendees.
Key topics covered in the meeting were Income Assistance program updates with Jason Yew (ISC), FSIN update from Karen Pelletier, SaskPower Indigenous Relations team introducing themselves and the support they offer to First Nations communities, updates from SFNFCI IA Reform Project, and roundtable updates from each community sharing successes, what’s not working well, and what’s next for the community.
A highlight of the two-day meeting was a certificate workshop hosted by Sask. Mental Health. Jim Brayshaw, Angellah Brayshaw, and Darryl Angus facilitated the workshop titled “The Sound of Belonging in Safe Workplaces and Communities" which focused on creating safe spaces in the workplace.

Full house in the classroom for the Prevention Working Group Quarterly Meeting today where they are providing updates to one another, reviewing past meeting notes, and receiving a curriculum update from us.
One of our company values is humility. Taken from the seven grandfather/grandmother teachings. By that we mean we acknowledge that we need to and can always learn more about how to better support First Nations, Inuit, and Metis service providers. So, we are very big on the concept of reciprocity. We enjoy learning from those we serve and doing our best to give back in ways that will meet their community needs.

Looking at the 2025-26 stats from our youth app. The “It’s My Life” app is a guide for First Nation youth who are transitioning into independence. The app can assist workers/teachers in having conversations with youth who are planning their transition.

The app features nine sections to help youth move to independence. The nine sections are Community, Education, Employment, Housing, Know Your Rights, Money Management, Relationships, Transportation, and Wellness. It can be found on Goggle play and the App store. We also have links on our website.

We closed out the fiscal year end with a very successful event at Travelodge on Tuesday. The "Keeping Children Safe – Prevention and Protection Working Together" workshop was full of information and insight into what is taking place in Prevention and Protection programming within First Nations and FNCFS agencies. The presentations and discussions were led by SFNFCI SDM Consultant Shelley Arcand, along with Anna Be**ch and Laura Schaan from MLT Aikins. Special shoutout to the Travelodge staff for handling the little mishap with the washroom and being very accommodating.
