WOTS Saskatoon is more than one day on the calendar.

It’s authors sharing their work.
It’s a child discovering a new favourite book.
It’s a reader hearing a story that reflects their own experience.
It’s meeting someone whose perspective is completely different from yours.
It’s Saskatchewan writers connecting with readers, publishers and the wider Canadian literary community.
And it’s a community coming together around stories.

As we prepare for The Word On The Street Saskatoon 2026, we’re working to create a festival that welcomes more voices, reaches more families and young readers, strengthens Indigenous participation, improves accessibility and celebrates the incredible diversity of Canadian literature.

We’re also welcoming back authors, publishers, booksellers, exhibitors, literacy organizations, volunteers, sponsors and community partners who help make it all possible.

Why does Saskatchewan need events like The Word On The Street?

Because where you live shouldn’t determine your access to Canadian books, authors and literary experiences.

National author tours and literary programming can often concentrate in Canada’s larger centres. WOTS Saskatoon helps bridge that geographic gap by bringing Canadian and Saskatchewan writers directly to our community.

It gives readers an opportunity to hear the stories behind the books, discover writers they may never have encountered, meet authors face-to-face and connect with publishers, booksellers and literacy organizations.

It also gives Saskatchewan writers an important platform within the broader Canadian literary community.

We believe Saskatchewan deserves a vibrant place where books, ideas, stories and diverse voices come together—and where everyone can participate regardless of their ability to pay.

That’s why WOTS Saskatoon remains FREE to attend.

WOTS Saskatoon creates a place where readers can meet authors, families can discover new books, young people can experience reading beyond the classroom, and Saskatchewan writers can share the stage with voices from across Canada.
