Today, we like to share the story of a young child who needs our prayers and support.
Three-year-old has been diagnosed with (R499H), an extremely rare genetic condition that gradually damages the nervous system. Without treatment, it may affect his ability to walk, use his hands, speak, and carry out everyday activities.
For the past several months, Gurmoh’s parents have been working tirelessly with researchers at to help advance a gene-editing treatment not only for their son, but with the hope of creating a path forward for many other families living with rare genetic diseases.
They have now begun the “Journey of Hope,” traveling from Vancouver to Ottawa to raise awareness for and advocate for better support. Along the way, they are collecting “Letters of Hope” from families affected by rare diseases, which will be presented to Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney
I encourage everyone in Saskatoon and the surrounding communities to share this message so it reaches local rare disease families.
