There is evidence from early intervention studies that if you catch the signs of the symptoms early before a psychotic break and treat with medication immediately, that the person may never develop full-blown schizophrenia. Therefore, early recognition and timely intervention/treatment are the most important.

Thus, it is imperative that school guidance counselors, youth workers, parents, and general practitioners have a keen awareness of the early warning signs of schizophrenia.

We accept donations by phone or by mail!

You can reach our offices toll free at 1-877-584-2620, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. We can accept credit card payments.

If you wish to mail us a donation, please mail in your donation with a short letter letting us know who you are and the reason for your donation. Cheques should be made payable to the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan.

We appreciate ALL donations, only those $20 and over will automatically receive an income tax receipt!

What is psychosis?

Psychosis is a word used to describe a collection of conditions that affect the mind and involve losing contact with reality. When someone becomes unwell or ill in this way it is often called a psychotic episode.

Psychosis can include things like vivid hallucinations involving all five senses, delusions with are fixed false beliefs, paranoia, and many more. Psychosis can be a condition all on its own but can and often does present itself with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and even depression and anxiety in some cases.

Singing With The Stars is back for another year! ✨

Save the date for an unforgettable evening in support of mental health in our community on October 7, 2026, in honour of the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan.

Tickets officially go on sale June 1st.

This inspiring evening helps ensure Saskatoon and area residents continue to have access to vital mental health resources, support programs, and no cost social and recreational activities that create connection and reduce isolation. Funds raised also support family programs and important anti stigma education delivered throughout our communities.
