Every year when we kick off Pathways to Success, I start with my motivational presentation.
And every year, there are always a couple of kids who really lock in and listen. This year, one of those kids was Junius
Yesterday, while we were touring Sask Polytech, he came up to me and asked:
“Carlin, how did you feel when nobody believed in you?”
Great question.
I told him, “It didn’t matter to me. What mattered was reaching my goal.”
Then I shared something one of my coaches told me years ago:
“Nordy, you get out of the game what you put into it.”
I’ve never forgotten that.
And I told Junius, “Life is the same way. You work hard, follow the steps we talked about, believe in yourself and keep going. You’ll be fine.”
These are the moments that make Pathways to Success special.
Sometimes you never know which kid is listening — or which conversation might stick with them long after the trip is over.
