Building relationships is at the heart of what we do! 🫱🏽‍🫲🏽❤️We were so happy to be involved in the combined Treaty Day Celebration of the Little Black Bear First Nation, Start Blanket Cree Nation, and Okanese First Nation, hosted in Okanese.

We enjoyed sharing information, handing out prizes, and celebrating alongside the Nations. Thanks for the laughs and good visits!

June is National Indigenous History Month 🧡🪶

As we celebrate the histories, cultures, languages, and achievements of Indigenous Peoples, we also recognize the strength and leadership that continue to shape First Nations communities today.

At FNCIAS, we are proud to walk alongside our Member Nations as they plan for the future, supporting Nation-led housing and infrastructure priorities that strengthen communities, build capacity, and create lasting benefits for generations to come.

Please note that our office will be closed on Monday, June 22, 2026, in lieu of June 21, in observance of National Indigenous Peoples Day.

Feel Good Friday ✨🧡

Our Engagement team has been busy on the road lately visiting Nations and connecting with community!

Over the past few weeks, we were honoured to celebrate Treaty Day with Daystar First Nation, meet with the team at Ochapowace Nation, and attend a Shoal Lake event where we had the opportunity to connect with Chief Erma Merasty.

A big part of our work at FNCIAS is staying grounded through Nation visits, listening, and learning. We are always grateful for the warm welcomes and meaningful conversations along the way. 💛

🫱🏽‍🫲🏽If your Nation wants to connect with us, send us a DM or email [email protected].

FNCIAS recognizes Treaties Recognition Week!

Treaties are sacred agreements built on respect, partnership, and shared responsibility. This week is an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing importance of Treaty relationships and learn more about the history and spirit of the Treaties.

We are proud to work alongside First Nations across Treaty territories in support of Nation-led growth and self-determination. Check out OTC's profile and website for great Treaty education resources ⬇️

The Office of the Treaty Commissioner is pleased to help fulfil the call to action by our future generations to have the third week in May proclaimed Treaties Recognition Week.

A Grade 5 Class at Ecole Lumsden Elementary and their teacher, Justin Freitag, introduced the Treaties Recognition Week initiative in 2023 after being inspired by a Treaty 4 flag-raising in Lumsden.

For the third year, the Government of Saskatchewan is proclaiming May 17–23 as Treaties Recognition Week in Saskatchewan calling on all citizens to recognize Treaty.

This annual event recognizes the Treaty relationship and the Office of the Treaty Commissioner invites people across Saskatchewan to better understand our shared history.

"Treaties Recognition Week is an opportunity for all of us to learn, reflect, and strengthen our common understanding of Treaty. Together, we can honour the Spirit and Intent of Treaty,” said Dr. Kathy Walker, Treaty Commissioner of Saskatchewan.
