Grave Injustice Occurring in Pakistan
On February 23, 2026, in Gujranwala City, A Christian man named Sarwar Masih and his family were forcibly removed from their ancestral home of 80 years by a neighbour, Mehar Mohammad Farooq. Despite utility records proving Mr. Masih’s ownership, Mr. Farooq reportedly used a court order to evict the family on short notice without allowing them an opportunity to defend their claim.
Following the eviction, Mr. Farooq allegedly posted Quranic verses and banners on the property, using the threat of blasphemy laws against anyone who might attempt to remove them. A Muslim neighbour, Mohammad Adrees, has expressed a willingness to provide an affidavit confirming that the Masih family has lived there for decades and has never sold the property to Mr. Farooq.
The local Christian community is currently in a state of terror, fearing that this situation could escalate into the kind of mob violence previously seen in Sargodha, Jawanwala, and Shanti Nagar.
Blasphemy laws have been used as a tool to attack, persecute, and lynch non-Muslims in the country. We pray for the leaders to consider abolishing these laws. While the offense carries a death sentence, no one has been executed; however, the accused often remain in prison for several years.

We appeal to the Higher Authorities, including the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Prime Minister, and law enforcement agencies, to intervene immediately, protect this family, and ensure that justice is served.
Canadian Aid to Persecuted Christians is an incorporated charity that does advocacy, facilitates humanitarian aid, legal aid to those accused of blasphemy, and resettlement to those most at risk.
