Today marks the first day of June and the beginning of Pride Season! We are looking forward to being in community this month, visiting with kin, and sharing reminders for the important awareness days coming up.

June includes National Indigenous History Month, Pride Season, National Indigenous Peoples Day, Blue Jean Jacket Day, Pulse Remembrance Day, and more.

We will keep sharing what comes up throughout the month, including reminders, resources, and events from community. Big hugs and we look forward to seeing you on our travels!

As May comes to an end, we wanted to share all of the awareness days in one place. May included many important dates from Red Dress Day, Agender Pride Day, to International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

We know awareness days can never hold the full weight of these movements, but they can give us reminders to pause, learn, remember, and keep each other accountable. Thank you to everyone who continues to carry these conversations in your families, workplaces, schools, and communities!

We have been updating our templates here at 2SiMS and have been planning a more consistent posting schedule. We look forward to sharing more with you in June!

Today we honour Red Dress Day, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, Two-Spirit, and gender-diverse relatives.

We remember our loved ones who are missing or have been stolen from us. We recognize the families, survivors, advocates, and communities who continue to carry grief, search for answers, and call for safety, justice, and change.

Red Dress Day is a time to honour, grieve, learn, and take action. We encourage everyone to attend local events, follow community protocol, support Indigenous-led organizations, family-led advocacy, share trusted resources, and continue this work beyond May 5.

If today feels heavy, please reach out to someone you trust or connect with a support line. You are not alone.

All four episodes of our Masterclass Series with Moe Clark are now live on the 2 Spirits in Motion Society YouTube channel!

Moe is a Two-Spirit Métis prairie person from Calgary, now based in Montreal. Across this series, they reflect on song as medicine, living a good life, and how land, ceremony, and community shape creative practice. They also speak about mentorship and Elders, writing and storytelling through English and Nehiyawewin, preparing for gigs, and the responsibilities that come with carrying story and spirit through art. We're so grateful for Moe's knowledge and how generous they've been in sharing with us!

We are sending love to all who are grieving Mike McCoy ❤️

Our close friend Mike was a beloved q***r Métis community member who supported our work at 2SiMS. As a former Co-Chair of Saskatoon Pride and a longtime advocate, he helped grow our community in Saskatoon. He shared his knowledge generously, uplifted younger generations, and helped build safer communities for all of us to experience. Mike meant a great deal to us and will be deeply missed.

We hold his family, friends, and all of his kin close at this time. We are so grateful for our shared time together, and we continue to walk with what he taught us. Big hugs.

As we move through April, we want to take a moment to recognize a few important March dates!

We will keep marking these dates throughout the year and sharing reminders as they come up. We encourage our relatives, friends, and allies to mark their calendars and carry this into their own communities through advocacy and action.

This year, April 8th marks the International Day of Pink. It began in 2007 when a student at a Nova Scotia high school was targeted with homophobic bullying for wearing a pink shirt. In response, other students organized to wear pink as a show of solidarity. Today, International Day of Pink is recognized each year as a day of action against bullying, discrimination, and violence.

Wearing pink is one way to participate, and the goal is to keep building spaces where 2SLGBTQQIA+ kin are treated with respect and can move through school and community safely. Sending love from all of us at 2SiMS!
