Day Four Recap (Feb. 20, 2026)
And that’s a wrap on Winter Camp 2026!
Our hearts are so full after an incredible final day at the MyHumanitas Winter Camp. We closed out our 4th day with the perfect blend of energy, culture, and community spirit.
We kicked things off with greetings and high-energy warm-up games to get everyone moving! The creativity was flowing during Arts & Crafts, but the true heart of the day was our time spent in Indigenous Storytelling and Cultural Appreciation. We were honoured to witness a powerful Indigenous Performance that brought so much meaning and connection to our gathering.
After working up an appetite, the kids hit the court for some Basketball before splitting into groups for a high-energy Dance session led by Gladys and Alyannah. Whether they were in the "big kids" or "small kids" group, the rhythm and smiles were infectious!
We ended our journey together with a special Celebration and eating time, sharing one last meal as a camp family before saying our final "see you laters."
This successful week wouldn't have been possible without the beautiful community surrounding us.
To our amazing children and participants: Your laughter and energy are the reason we do this. You make every moment brighter!
To the parents: Thank you for trusting us with the care your kids and for your constant support of the MyHumanitas mission.
To all our amazing volunteers and supporters: You guys are the heart of this program. Thanks for all your hard work and for always showing up with so much passion. A big shoutout to the awesome youth leaders at our camp, who are always there to volunteer and help our younger campers. Huge thanks to Gladys Tingot, Alyannah Ablan, Iestin Abrenica, Aubrey Padillo, Louis Ablan, Catherine Michelle Yulip, David Dinson, Royce Corpuz, Shaireen Ann Ramos, and to Mr. Ariel Ablan, Aly and Louis's dad, for being our camp's sound system operator.
We also want to thank April Ann Ebonite and Alan James Canizares for taking wonderful pictures of our camp. We also want to thank Kuya Reynaldo Salud, Ian Asuncion, Maria Padillo, Janina Dabucol, Kobe Dabucol, Jezza May Millo, and Catherine Ronquillo for taking the time to help out however they could. Thanks to our frequent collaborator, the Saskatchewan History & Folklore Society, and its Executive Director, Ms. Kristine Enns-Kavanagh, for leading the button-making activities. We thank Mr. Parker Neveu and his talented team for highlighting and showcasing the beauty of Indigenous arts and culture.
We also want to thank Auntie Maria Salud for preparing and cooking all the food we have had over the past four days of camp.
But last but not least, this year's Winter Camp will not be possible without the support and back-up of The Community Initiative Fund. Thank you so much, and we appreciate the funding you provided to make this camp successful and accessible for all the kids in our city.
Now that the winter camp has come to a close, we are already dreaming of the next season! We can’t wait to see you all again at our upcoming camp. Stay tuned to our page for dates and registration details—you won’t want to miss it!
Until next time, stay kind, keep smiling and shining!
