Meet Paul Harris, an Illinois lawyer who decided to call together a few colleagues in Chicago to discuss founding a club that would unite professionals for fellowship and collaboration. On 23 February 1905, Paul Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram Shorey gathered at Loehr’s office in downtown Chicago for what would become known as the first Rotary club meeting.
Rotary concepts and ideals spread rapidly, and the first international club was founded in Winnipeg, Canada by 1910. The growth continued across Canada from that point, and by February 1928, The Rotary Club of Sarnia was established. 🍁
