During our BioBlitz tomorrow, we will be observing as many organisms as we can. Not only will we identify animals and plants like the native currant blooming this week, we'll also learn interesting facts, like what causes currant's leaves to pucker!

Those attending this weekend will also be able to witness the fern-leaf peony blooming, and the first few lily-of-the-valleys!

A selection of prints by our Artist in Residence, Lisa Matthias, is ready for viewing in the historic log home!

Be the first to see them this weekend on our first day open for the season, Sunday, May 31st. Lisa will be on site to talk about her printmaking processes, as well as to help identify local flora and fauna for our BioBlitz with iNaturalist!

The Garden will be open to the public weekdays in June from 10 am - 4 pm. Be sure to plan a visit to admire her beautiful work in person if you can’t make this Sunday!

There are so many plants blooming at the Garden this week! 🌸

Join us for our BioBlitz on Sunday, May 31st, our first day open to the public, rain or shine! Take part in a community effort to record as many species as we can in one afternoon. Our Artist in Residence, Lisa Matthias and special guest, Richard Caners, Botany Curator at the Royal Alberta Museum, will be on hand to help us learn to identify local flora and fauna. Hopefully forecasts improve, but a drizzly day will make for good conditions for amphibians and mosses. 🐸

Admission is by donation. Drop in for planned activities from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. If you’d like to get an earlier start and explore on your own, the Garden opens at 11:00 am.

The 2026 season is underway at Pegg! Flowers are blooming, and staff and volunteers have been preparing to open for the public, and setting up a Malaise trap for our participation in BugQuest Canada, Canada’s largest ever insect survey!

Our first day open is Sunday, May 31st, for our BioBlitz with iNaturalist! The Garden opens at 11 am, with activities starting at 1 pm. Learn how the Malaise trap works, and help us identify the many different insects, plants, and animals that call Pegg Garden home.

Our June hours are weekdays from 10 am - 4 pm if you are unable to make our BioBlitz event! We look forward to welcoming you.
