Heartwood House is off to an incredible start 💙

In just 12 weeks, 15 of 18 homes are already filled at Salt Spring Island’s new affordable housing for healthcare workers, helping attract new staff and support those already serving our community.

This project has already helped bring 10 new hires to Lady Minto Hospital, including international recruits who could only say “yes” because housing was available. 🏡

For healthcare workers like Seyi, a newly recruited nurse, Heartwood House means more than just a place to live...it’s a fresh start in a community that needs them.

The Heartwood House Housing Society is now accepting rental applications! This 18-unit housing community was thoughtfully designed to support the diverse housing needs of healthcare workers on Salt Spring Island.

What Heartwood House Offers
- Clean, functional, newly renovated units
- Modern appliances and energy-efficient heat pumps
- On-site coin laundry
- Exterior maintenance, landscaping, snow/ice removal, waste & recycling all included

Eligibility is open to anyone working in provincially funded healthcare on Salt Spring Island, including doctors, nurses, and essential support staff such as janitorial, maintenance, kitchen, and operational roles. Every member of the healthcare team is welcome.

Focus on what matters most — work, family, and enjoying island life — while Heartwood House takes care of the rest.
