Our office is closed today for Thanksgiving. We would like to express our gratitude for all the non-profit organizations, donors and volunteers who collectively do so much for our communities here in the Shuswap. 🍁

Following the devastating fire at D Dutchmen Dairy, the family is raising funds for the fire departments that responded - Sicamous, Malakwa & Swansea Point. An account has been set up at SASCU Credit Union and cash donations are also being collected at the dairy. What an incredible way to respond to a terrible loss.

‼️We have received many requests asking where funds of support can be sent. The family has all agreed that we would like all monetary funds directed to supporting our local fire departments that responded:
Sicamous Fire Rescue;
Malakwa Volunteer Fire Department; and
Swansea Point Volunteer Fire Department.
The action taken by these departments is the reason why our farm still stands and operates today. They were quick, professional and so very kind. They fought with their hearts. As rural fire departments, these amazing individuals do so much for our community, with many hours being 100% volunteer. We want to ensure that we support them in whatever way we can.

To ensure all funds are accounted for and disbursed appropriately, we have worked with our local credit union, SASCU, to have a dedicated account set up. If you would like to support this cause, please see payment options below:

Our 2026 Heart of the Shuswap Adult Volunteer Award winner is Ted Danyluk! Ted was nominated by for his incredible work with their organization and other groups in the North Shuswap, including the North Shuswap Lions Club and the North Shuswap Disaster Relief Society.

Our office will be closed tomorrow, September 30, as we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This event, hosted by Neskonlith Knowledge-Sharer Louis Thomas, is an opportunity to take Reconcili-Action by connecting with each other and the environment at Sxwetsméllp Village.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Heart of the Shuswap Mixer, celebrating people who care and causes that matter in the Shuswap. It was wonderful to see so many donors, fundholders, grant recipients and community members in one room!

A very special thank you to Adams Lake Band Councillor Joyce Kenoras for the welcome/recognition of Secwepemc territory, as well as our guest panelists, District of Sicamous CFO Bianca Colonna, City of Salmon Arm CFO Patrick Gramiak, and Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail Senior Consultant Phil McIntyre-Paul for joining our team on stage.

As smoky skies fill the Shuswap, our thoughts are with all those affected by wildfires in BC and beyond.

If you would like to make a donation to help those impacted by wildfires, community foundations around the province have local funds that assist with immediate and longer term needs.

To learn more about the emergency funds that support our neighbours in the Okanagan, visit Community Foundation North Okanagan, Central Okanagan Foundation and Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen.

The Shuswap Emergency Preparedness Fund developed out of the Emergency Response Fund that provided nearly $1 million for recovery efforts in the North Shuswap after the 2023 Bush Creek East Wildfire. Donations to the fund can be made year round.
