We are incredibly proud to announce a unique wildlife project at Wild Eyes Monitoring Solutions. We have recently completed the classification, labeling and sorting of over 2.86 million trail camera photos for the Western Colorado University !

These images aren't just "pictures". They are critical data points collected from diverse research sites across the rugged Colorado wilderness. By processing this massive dataset, we’ve provided the foundational evidence needed for several ongoing research programs focused on wildlife behavior, population health, and habitat use.

WCU and their field teams collected over 2,860,000 images from 72 cameras sites over a period of two years. Although the project focused primarily on bighorn sheep, we were also able to indicate the presence of many other species including mule deer. black bear, cougar, red fox, and many other.

A number of the cameras were even able to provide crucial image data on wildfires as they moved through a few of the camera sites. Although initially devastating, fire definitely has a place on the landscape, and to see it move through an area is just another way of capturing nature in action.

A huge thank you Dr Madelon van de Kerk, graduate student Cody Hinkley, and the entire team at the WCU for trusting us with this pivotal work. We look forward to seeing how these insights shape the future of Colorado’s wilderness. We also look forward to seeing the results of Cody’s efforts, which are expected to be announced later this summer.

It's that time of year again when everyone is out, gathering up all those images collected over the winter season. While it's a bit like Christmas in the spring, the amount of photos that come in can be a little overwhelming.

If you would like some assistance in analyzing and processing them, we're here to help with that. Give us a call and we'll work out a program that's tailored to your needs.

When the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team (URT) descends into the depths, "good enough" technology doesn't exist. In the dark, high pressure world of underwater recovery, clear communication and reliable gear are the difference between a successful mission and a dangerous one. That’s why the RCMP URT relies on Wild Eyes Lithium AA batteries to power their mission-critical systems.

Water and cold are the natural enemies of battery life, but Wild Eyes batteries are built to thrive in the most hostile environments. Their 3500 mAh capacity provides the sustained endurance required for long, complex dive operations.

From freezing glacial lakes to murky depths, our lithium tech maintains peak performance where alkaline fails. The steady voltage ensures that vital comms and sensors remain operational, even as the battery depletes.

To the divers and support crews of the RCMP URT, thank you for the incredible work you do beneath the surface. We are honored to be the energy source behind your most critical equipment.

Reliable Power, even under pressure. 🇨🇦

I guess the tree wasn't happy with the camera trapper putting a screw in it. Sap came in the screw hole, down the slope and out the front, directly onto the lock.

The lock was swapped for a clean one, and the sappy one was cleaned in some solvent and is good as new.

Even though it's "just a lock", we spend a lot of time testing out camera trapping accessories before we put our name on them. Although it may sound "sappy", we stand behind everything we sell.

Time for some Lock Lovin'

It's that time of year again when we head out to see what winter has left for us in the way of trail camera images. We've been eagerly awaiting these results for quite some time, and they are top of mind. However, there's something else that probably needs your attention, too. Your camera lock, whatever type it may be, has been sitting out in the elements all winter, and it might be a good idea to give it a bit of a spa day.

Products like WD-40 and other liquid l***s are OK, but they leave a residue behind that collects dust. Over time, you can end up with a lot of nasty gunk inside your lock, which can affect its performance.

We always recommend a spray-on dry lubricant. You can sq**rt it into the cavities of the lock; the liquid then flashes off, leaving a film of dry lubricant such as graphite or molybdenum. A little time spent looking after your lock can potentially save you hours of frustration if it seizes up.

Our programmable combination locks are the ideal solution for your camera's security. You can set the code to anything you like, and there are no keys to lose or forget. If you need some, they're always in stock.

Just before leaving for home, I took a quick run out to track down some of the recently collared animals.

All of the sheep were back to their normal routines and I was able to get close enough to this ewe to get photos. She had caught up to her herd and they were once again traveling together.

The dedication of the combined team from Water Lands and Resource Stewardship, along with Canadian Wildlife Capture Ltd., is truly second to none. It was a profound privilege to witness them in action and see firsthand the incredible things they are doing for B.C. wildlife.

Today was another day of working with great people on an incredibly important project. Once again, the Smart Beacon collars proved their worth and gave instant feedback on sheep locations immediately after release

The Wild Sheep Society of British Columbia continues to produce amazing results with their Fraser River M.ovi efforts.

Canadian Wildlife Capture Ltd. did a great job of slinging in sheep too. What a team.
