Jamaica continues its recovery from Hurricane Melissaโa catastrophic Category 5 storm that ranks among the most intense Atlantic hurricanes on record.
Health Partners International Canada responded with three bulk consignments of essential medicines valued at $192,389. Working through our trusted partner , these shipments delivered critical treatments to an estimated 7,600 patients. Medicines reached hospitals, community clinics, and emergency response operations across the hardest-hit western parishes of St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, and Hanover.
Emergency medical mission personnel also travelled with our Humanitarian Medical Kits - containing 350 pounds of ready-to-use antibiotics, pain relievers, antifungals, wound care supplies, antidiabetics and more - providing medicine for an additional 2,100 Jamaicans.
We are grateful for our generous pharmaceutical partners who donated the medicines, and to our incredible partners Food for The Poor Canada, Mission for Advancing Theological Education (MATE), and CMAT - Canadian Medical Assistance Teams for their courage and commitment - working in perilous conditions to bring medicine and improved health to communities in need across Jamaica.
