Health Partners International of Canada

Health Partners International of Canada We work to increase the access to essential medicines and healthcare services to people living in vulnerable communities around the globe.

Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC) is a humanitarian not-for-profit relief and development organization dedicated to improving access to medicine and enhancing health in the developing world. HPIC contributes to well-being by providing donated essential medicines, supplies and vaccines, building national health sector capacities, and responding to emergencies and health threats. We par

tner with a network of ministries of health, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and healthcare professionals, with pharmaceutical and healthcare product companies, and with Canadian government departments; and we count on the financial support of individual donors, foundations and corporations. Because of our unique model, HPIC multiplies every donated dollar to provide, without discrimination, at least $10 of free medical aid.

Our heartfelt thanks goes out to Madame Jocelyne Robitaille and Madame Judith Duguay of Club de l'ร‚ge d'or du Havre-des-รŽles in Laval for their wonderful donation of 150 Izzy Dolls, baby blankets, and hats. HPIC is deeply grateful to all our volunteer crafters who generously donate their time, skill, and heart to bring hope and kindness to children in crisis. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

Cuba is facing a severe medicine shortage crisis, with over 70% of essential drugs unavailable. The energy crisis has severely disrupted medicine supply chains and critical shortages of medications for hypertension and diabetes are putting lives at risk. With chronic diseases affecting a significant portion of the population, approximately five million Cubans face potential treatment interruptions and deteriorating health.

Working through our longtime partner the Cuba Council of Churches, HPIC has responded by deploying five skids containing 1,722 pounds of medicine - 34,000 treatments for chronic disease and 137,000 doses of children's multivitamins. Distribution is being coordinated with local hospitals, clinics, orphanages, and church-run dispensaries in the most vulnerable and underserved areas.

For more than 36 years, emergency response has been at the heart of Health Partners International Canada's mission. Our trusted network of partners and global presence in over 140 countries enable us to act swiftly when crisis strikes - delivering medicine and medical aid to communities facing natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies. Since adopting the Izzy Doll packing program over 30 years ago, HPIC has prevented tens of thousands of pounds of non-recyclable foam from being dispersed around the world.

The dolls serve as protective packing material, cushioning medical shipments in transit without relying on plastic fillers. Unlike polystyreneโ€”which persists for centuries and contributes to ocean and landfill pollutionโ€”Izzy Dolls fulfill a second purpose at their destination. When the medicines arrive, they are given to children living through conflict, displacement, or crisis situations, bringing comfort and a reminder that somewhere, someone cares. For many, an Izzy Doll is their first and only toy. Learn more about the Izzy Doll program by visiting https://www.hpicanada.ca/craft-for-hpic/

Jamaica continues its recovery from Hurricane Melissaโ€”a catastrophic Category 5 storm that ranks among the most intense Atlantic hurricanes on record.

Health Partners International Canada responded with three bulk consignments of essential medicines valued at $192,389. Working through our trusted partner , these shipments delivered critical treatments to an estimated 7,600 patients. Medicines reached hospitals, community clinics, and emergency response operations across the hardest-hit western parishes of St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, and Hanover.

Emergency medical mission personnel also travelled with our Humanitarian Medical Kits - containing 350 pounds of ready-to-use antibiotics, pain relievers, antifungals, wound care supplies, antidiabetics and more - providing medicine for an additional 2,100 Jamaicans.

We are grateful for our generous pharmaceutical partners who donated the medicines, and to our incredible partners Food for The Poor Canada, Mission for Advancing Theological Education (MATE), and CMAT - Canadian Medical Assistance Teams for their courage and commitment - working in perilous conditions to bring medicine and improved health to communities in need across Jamaica.

An incredible 500 Izzy Dolls have been received from Louise at the Women's Institutes of the Beauce-Appalaches Federation. We are absolutely overwhelmed by this generous donation that involved a four-hour drive to our office in Saint-Anne-De-Bellevue.

These lovingly handmade dolls serve a dual purpose: first as protective cushioning for life-saving medicines traveling thousands of miles, then as a comforting companion for a child facing illness or fearโ€”sometimes as their first and only toy.
Thank you to everyone at the women's circles of the Federation 09 Beauce-Appalaches for helping us heal communities with health and hope and for turning your compassion into measurable impact. Learn more at https://www.hpicanada.ca/craft-for-hpic/

Did you know? Health Partners International Canada holds the Imagine Canada Accreditation Trustmark.

Imagine Canada accreditation is a voluntary national program that provesโ€”through independent reviewโ€”that Canadian charities and non-profits meet recognized standards for governance, financial accountability, and transparency. It signals to donors, funders, and the public that an organization can be trusted.

This is the foundation that enables us to reach over 1 million vulnerable people each year with life-saving medicineโ€”delivering health and hope to those who would otherwise go without. Learn more at https://www.hpicanada.ca/

For 25 years, Health Partners International Canada (HPIC) has stood alongside Haiti - partnering with Canadian and local organizations to address both immediate crises and enduring health challenges. Together, these collaborations have delivered over $40 million in medicines and medical supplies supporting both humanitarian relief and building pathways to sustainable care.
Now, HPIC's newest initiative with Canadian implementing partner ITeams Canada and four grassroots Haitian organizations is increasing access to medicine for 20,000 patients over the next two yearsโ€”turning partnership into measurable impact and delivering health and hope to the worldโ€™s most vulnerable.
