We work to increase the access to essential medicines and healthcare services to people living in vulnerable communities around the globe.

Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC) is a humanitarian not-for-profit relief and development organization dedicated to improving access to medicine and enhancing health in the developing world. HPIC contributes to well-being by providing donated essential medicines, supplies and vaccines, building national health sector capacities, and responding to emergencies and health threats. We partner with a network of ministries of health, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and healthcare professionals, with pharmaceutical and healthcare product companies, and with Canadian government departments; and we count on the financial support of individual donors, foundations and corporations. Because of our unique model, HPIC multiplies every donated dollar to provide, without discrimination, at least $10 of free medical aid.

HPIC is extremely grateful to our partners helping the people of 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐳𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐚 affected by two devastating earthquakes earlier this year.

Thanks to our humanitarian air carrier partner Airlink and our long-time partner-on-the-ground, International Medical Corps (IMC), 3,628 lbs (1,646 kgs) of essential medicine have been successfully delivered under extremely challenging conditions.
Medications that treat patients suffering from pain, infection, nausea, cardiovascular disease, malnutrition, diabetes and others, were included. The shipment, valued at $168,353 will be distributed by International Medical Corps through their emergency field hospital and 3 mobile medical units in La Guaira.

Thank you, IMC and Airlink, for your continued commitment in getting life-saving medical aid to those in need around the world.

HPIC was delighted to receive 130 gorgeous 𝐈𝐳𝐳𝐲 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐬 from our incredibly generous crafter, Noreen Cole. Each doll was lovingly handmade with care and compassion, and this beautiful donation brings Noreen’s total contribution to more than 500 Izzy Dolls.

These special dolls will be packed alongside HPIC medicines and medical supplies in Humanitarian Medical Kits, offering comfort and companionship to children receiving care around the world. We’re deeply grateful to Noreen for her continued dedication and for helping us bring both essential medicine and hope to communities in need.

We were pleased to recently welcome to our Oakville Distribution Centre for an afternoon of packing Humanitarian Medical Kits (HMKs) for people in Cuba urgently needing essential medicines.

Cuba is facing one of its most severe humanitarian crises in decades, driven in large part by an acute fuel shortage. The ongoing energy emergency has contributed to widespread shortages of food, medicine, water, and other essential services. Hospitals are experiencing critical shortages of medical supplies, while an estimated five million people living with chronic illnesses are at risk of interruptions to their treatment. Destined for hospitals and clinics in the Eastern provinces, these HMKs will allow thousands of Cubans access to the medicines they need.

The late 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧 was an exceptionally thoughtful and kind woman. Passionate about helping vulnerable people, she saw HPIC’s mission and values as an opportunity to bring hope, comfort, and healing to those who were ill and suffering. Her generosity and vision continue to make a difference, helping to restore the health of people living in remote and underserved communities across southern Africa.

A 20-foot container of medicines and medical supplies, sponsored by Frances Jean’s estate, has arrived at 𝐊𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐙𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐰𝐞, bringing much-needed relief to the hospital and the communities it serves. The shipment included 20 pallets of vitamins, wound-care supplies, and essential medicines.

Karanda Mission Hospital serves a catchment area of approximately 225,000 people, extending into neighbouring countries, including Mozambique, Zambia, and Botswana. Zimbabwe is facing a serious health crisis, compounded by an El Niño-induced drought described as the worst in 40 years, followed by flash floods and heavy rains.

These supplies will help people living with chronic conditions, infections, debilitating pain, and surgical needs. For many patients, access to medicine means the difference between prolonged illness and recovery.

At HPIC, every successful delivery of medical aid reflects the generosity and commitment of contributors who may never meet the patients they help. From the pharmaceutical companies who donate the medicines, to individuals who help cover processing and shipping costs, transport allies and trusted partners on the ground, each partner plays a vital role in making these deliveries possible.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to everyone who made this delivery to Karanda Mission Hospital possible, and to all those who support HPIC’s mission to improve access to medicine and improve the health of those in need around the world. Staying up to date on leading developments in pharmacy and pharmaceutical management is an important part of Health Partners International Canada's commitment to excellence and accountability. Raini Aquino, HPIC's Senior Director of Programs, recently attended the 2026 FIP World Congress in Montreal. The annual event brings together pharmacists, educators, pharmaceutical scientists, global health leaders, and policymakers to discuss advances in pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical science, education, and global health.

One session, “𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬" explored how digital platforms are advancing more informed, accessible, and globally connected decision-making in responsible medicine donations.

The discussion was particularly relevant to HPIC’s work facilitating pharmaceutical donations to qualified humanitarian and healthcare partners, while ensuring that donated medicines meet regulatory, quality, and recipient needs.

By applying best practices and engaging with emerging developments in the field, HPIC continues to strengthen its approach and achieve better outcomes for the vulnerable communities it serves.

In the far northern tropical rainforest of the 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐨, access to essential medicines is limited, and treatment is often beyond reach for families who need it most.

During a recent medical mission to Ouésso, Dr. Willa Chu brought two HPIC Humanitarian Medical Kits (HMKs) to New Sight Congo 目養計劃 Hospital, helping extend dental and medical care to this remote community. Over six days, the team screened 890 Grade 6 children. Nearly one in three, or 29%, had dental problems, while 49% required medical follow-up. Among the 185 adults screened, more than half were living with hypertension.

Many dental patients arrived in acute pain with severely damaged teeth needing immediate removal, serious infections, and, in one case, a traumatic injury. The HMKs, containing antibiotics, analgesics, antihypertensives, and other essential medicines, helped patients receive the treatment they urgently needed.

Thanks to Mully Children’s Family’s successful 2026 Medical Mission Trip, 2,007 financially vulnerable people living in rural Kenya received the essential medical treatment they needed.

HPIC-donated medicines and medical supplies enabled the mission team to treat conditions including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, gastritis, musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, upper respiratory infections, and dermatological conditions. These donations were especially valuable for patients requiring ongoing care to manage chronic conditions, as well as those seeking treatment for acute illnesses during the five-day medical camp.

On August 26, 2026, a sudden glacial collapse triggered catastrophic flash floods in northern Nepal. Current reports indicate nearly 1,000 confirmed deaths with over 4,700 missing. Entire villages, roads, and power infrastructure have been destroyed across the Nepal–Tibet border region.

The situation remains dangerous and volatile. Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority estimates that 10,000 households urgently need humanitarian assistance. People affected by the disaster need medicines for chronic conditions, as well as first aid and wound-care supplies.

HPIC is working now with on-the-ground partners to assess essential medicine and medical supply needs and ensure they reach those who need them most.
