Ratel Members With Interest in Public Service Begin Process Toward Formal Political Engagement
Abuja, Nigeria — Date: 29/01/2026
Across Nigeria, members of the Ratel civic movement have spent months working in communities — cleaning streets, repairing schools, supporting public spaces, and encouraging civic responsibility — without government funding or political backing.
These actions were driven by one belief: Nigeria can work when citizens take responsibility.
Today, a group of Ratel members who have an interest in public service through formal political structures announce their decision to begin the process of organizing a political platform dedicated to integrity, transparency, non-tribalism, and patriotism.
This step is not a conversion of the Ratel Movement into a political party.
The Ratel Movement remains a civic and non-partisan space.
This initiative is led by individual Ratel members who believe that service must now extend beyond community action into accountable governance.
Why This Step Is Being Taken
Community service has shown what Nigerians can do with limited resources.
But many of the problems citizens face are created by weak systems, poor leadership, and lack of accountability.
Street cleaning without policy change is not enough.
Volunteering without fixing leadership only treats symptoms.
For this reason, Ratel members interested in politics believe it is time to:
Carry the values already practiced on the ground into governance
Offer Nigerians a credible, service-based political alternative
Participate responsibly in the democratic process
This decision follows consultations with volunteers, community leaders, youths, professionals, and grassroots Nigerians across multiple states.
The Values Guiding This Political Effort
This political initiative is guided by principles already familiar to Ratel members and supporters:
Integrity: Public office is a responsibility, not a reward
Transparency: Decisions and finances must be open to the people
Non-Tribalism: Every Nigerian counts equally
Patriotism: Nigeria comes before personal or sectional interest
These are not campaign slogans.
They are standards already tested through action.
What This Platform Will Not Be
Not a party of godfathers
Not a tribal or religious platform
Not a social-media noise project
It will be a grassroots, service-driven political platform built from community experience, not elite privilege.
A Message to Nigerians
This initiative belongs to Nigerians who believe:
Politics should serve the people
Leadership should be earned through work
Patriotism should show in action, not words
Participation is open to citizens who share these values and want to build Nigeria through lawful, peaceful, and responsible political engagement.
The work continues.
The values remain the same.
The service now takes a formal path.
