3rd place? Hell YA!!!!!!!!!!

We did it!!!!!!!

We took the win tonight! Our first win against the team we played and in the Friday league run by forest city sport and social club! We had a lot of fun, learned a lot about ourselves and playing our potions and damn we looked good tonight! 🥎

The best part about being a coach/ manager for this team is witnessing the growth and dedication as we come together to become one bad ass team! 🏆

Thank you all for trusting me and for being on this adventure (and for the freakin ice bath!) 🛁

Maybe it wasn’t first or second but 3rd feels good!

Love ❤️ you all!

It’s taken a while to post this, because to say our hearts were shattered when we found out we lost you - would be an understatement.

I first met you on a shift in Our early days of being open. You rolled up on an office wheely chair after having been hit by a car earlier in the day 🤦🏻‍♀️. I had heard of this cool cat with 9 lives who had been struck by a car and left running 😂 but this was my first interaction with you. And despite not being able to walk you rolled up in style. After my partner of the night and I sternly pleaded and demanded you attend hospital - you finally relented and agreed to have you broken leg checked. When I asked your last name you proudly responded with Choda - and so that’s what I put on the cab voucher. You still laughed at me for this many years later.

You knew how to lighten a mood. Make people laugh. You were pure mischief and that sparkle in your eyes spoke for itself.

But you were more than trouble, Mr. Choda. You were a leader and I was so proud to experience that, during your time in STASH. I will never forget how proud of you I was when you shared your story with a group of our students and took the time to teach them about harm reduction. You were brave and you were inspiring and you had so much more to offer than you gave yourself credit for.

Though you didn’t make it back to baseball this year you wanted to in any capacity - I hold close the memories of the tournaments with you from last year. You were supposed to get better so you could come back and coach with me. And I’m not mad at you but man we miss you.

In May you messaged me - you were brave and vulnerable and let me know why you stepped back but I never stopped believing you would be back.

“… but now I'm more focused and in a better headspace and I feel like I got a lot more positivity and a lot more to offer. I kind of felt like if I shouldn't be there without contributing at stash meetings not doing anything and expecting something in return that's not fair to any of you .. and to be honest I miss the happy lives and cheerful surroundings with all of you guys”

We will miss you. Thank you for being so incredibly you and the impact you had on so many lives.

We love you.

Ok… the ENVELOPE we teased last week!

The Nameless were proud recipients of a grant through The Cooperators Group! 25,000.00 was awarded to us to implement a peer support program!

How this looks:

🌼A 3 tiered program to engage peers and to encourage the incredible voices of peers in our community. This is for those in various stages of recovery or living experience.

1. Starting on Monday July 13th and running til October 2nd, peers are taking to the streets of St. Thomas providing support 3 days a week to folks in our community. 3 teams that are exploring different areas at different times of the day (morning, mid day and evening). Outreach services include (but are not limited to): exploring encampments, engaging with folks on the street, handing out needed items (harm reduction gear, Narcan, bottled water, snacks, sunscreen etc), community clean up (any paraphernalia or garbage found) and most of all engaging folks and providing a bridge to vital services (mental health supports, detox referrals, hospital support, social services, shelter etc)

(Have a peep below at a few of our teams in action!)

2. Second part is training. Our peers will be taking a 2 week program in October that is uniquely built for individuals with mental health and addictions to be able to provide supports to peers as a peer support!

3. Peer support will be actively offered through The Nameless and our peers will continue to be paid for their efforts.

🌼 7 peers who have been instrumental in keeping the Nameless open and running have been offered and have accepted positions! They will be paid and fairly compensated for their time and insights

❤️ we are beyond excited to be able to offer paid honorariums to our peers who invest their time and energy, care and compassion into our community!

💜Our hopes are to continue to build partnerships with community partners, expand on the need for peer support in our community and to show the value in living and lived experience in this work. What we hope to see are paid positions offered to our individuals who complete the programming from our community partners - expanding the understanding of the vital need for peer support in our community.

🌴 From here, we foresee growth and continue to hope to expand our programming to be offered to others in our community as our OG 7 pave the way for peers

Thank you for your love and support! We are truly honoured and excited for this program and are thrilled that it’s already started! We can’t wait to continue to be able to offer it to more individuals in our community!
