At their recent meeting, members of the St. Thomas Kinsmen Club presented a cheque for $1,000 to the St. Thomas Music Festival. The funds support 4 scholarships of $250.00 each to Runners Up of the major awards based on the adjudicator's marks from the recently concluded 72nd Festival.

The Music Festival was a great success and a very busy week with 5 full days of piano, 2 days of voice, a day of school bands and choirs, an evening of strings, an evening with community church choirs and another with community bands and brass quintet.

Along with Kinsmen members, shown accepting the cheque is Frank Exley, the Past President of the Music Festival. As a follow-up to the Festival, the Keynotes Concert will be on Friday March 27th, 7:00 pm at Central United Church, 135 Wellington Street, St. Thomas. For more information on the Festival, go to https://www.stthomasmusicfestival.ca.

We all know of someone, whether it be family, friends, acquaintances, or even personally who have dealt with cancer in one form or another.

At their recent monthly meeting, Members of the Kinsmen Club of St. Thomas were pleased to present Tracey Jones, the Executive Director of Wellspring Cancer Support for London & Region and Stratford, with a cheque for $1,500.00

Wellspring receives no government or United Way funding at this time. All funding is done through fundraisers, family foundations, community grants and donations from individuals, businesses, corporations and service clubs. Staffing is minimal with 4 staff based in London and 1 in Stratford and close to 100 additional volunteers who help with office positions, programs, events and board level committees.

Wellspring offers supports and programs at no cost to patients, caregivers and families including individual and group support, self-development and educational support, exercise and movement programs, financial and workplace strategies, symptom management and therapeutic arts. Currently there are approximately 6,500 people in the London database alone using their services including approximately 110 families in St. Thomas and Elgin County. In the past year, 27 new families from St. Thomas alone registered with Wellspring.

For more information about Wellspring London & Region, call 519-438-7379 or visit their website at www.wellspringlondon.ca

Today we celebrate 106 years as an organization, and 81 years as a service club in St.Thomas!!

On this day in 1920, a 21-year-old WWI veteran named Hal Rogers gathered a small group in Hamilton, Ontario, to spark something truly special: the first ever Kin Canada Club.

Having deeply missed the camaraderie of service, Hal created a place where young people could forge lasting friendships, strengthen their communities, apply their skills to help others, and grow into impactful community leaders.

106 years later, that original spark has spread nationwide. Today, Kin Canada boasts over 350 clubs and more than 4,500 dedicated volunteer members across the country.

Over the past century+, our volunteers have invested over $1 billion - and countless volunteer hours - into Canadian communities, making a real difference from coast to coast.

Today, we celebrate Founders' Day by honoring our past, celebrating our present, and looking forward to even more impact ahead.

Happy Founders' Day to every Kin who keeps Hal's vision alive! 🇨🇦
