The Kiwanis Club of St.Thomas Golden K again financially supported the St.Thomas-Elgin Food Bank with a $2000 donation to help cover the rising cost of food. The Kiwanis Club of St.Thomas Golden K is pleased to announce that they have pledged $25,000 to the Hospice of Elgin, the funds to be paid at regular intervals over the next two years. The Hospice is now in the early stages of construction on South Edgeware Rd. and will have ten private hospice suites offering 24-7 care for 125 patients yearly. Hospice of Elgin Community Development members Larissa Caruana and Charlotte Smith accepted the funds on behalf of the Hospice. JUNE IS BOOK DRIVE MONTH IN ST.THOMAS

The Kiwanis Club of St.Thomas Golden K, as part of their mission to improve the lives of children, announces their Spring Book Drive to collect used and new children's books for recycling back into the community to children that need books. Kiwanis recognizes that book reading can positively effect a child's scholastic development and well-being in life.
Through a partnership with London's "Investing in Children", the Golden K will clean, vet, categorize and distribute the collected books in Blue Boxes for Books placed throughout the community. Children can take a book, read it there or at home, swap it out for another or keep the book for their very own.

Carrie and Steve Orchard and son Ethan received a donation of $500 from the Kiwanis Golden K to promote Volt Hockey under the umbrella of Variety- The Children’s Charity. Volt hockey, originated in Denmark, is an accessible form of hockey where the player sits in an electrically powered wheelchair. It has provided many people with limited mobility in both their arms and legs, the ability to play hockey.

Jim Collins, President and owner of Harvest Hands accepts funds from the Kiwanis Golden K members to support his food rescue program and for the feeding of 65,000people in SW Ontario every month.
Kiwanians Murray, Dennis and Art contribute many hours of their time every week to ensure that the trucks can deliver repackaged rescued food to over 225 food banks, shelters, soup kitchens and other food agencies every day across SW Ontario.
