Croix area for over 30 years, welcoming folks from both sides of the border who want to form a community that supports each other spiritually and practically. We're not affiliated with any denomination, and we're traditionally Christian in some ways and contemporary in others. We're led by a "Leadership Collective" - six of us who take on the primary responsibilities for our services. One of those

services is a "Celtic Service" (an informal liturgy with a small group meeting in our own "cafe") and the other is our "Contemporary Service" with singing, prayer, kids' story and teaching. Our community seeks to be fully affirming of LGBTQ+ people, their relationships and their gifts being shared in our midst, and while we're clear in seeking to "follow Jesus," we do our best to welcome everyone who enjoys hanging out with us regardless of their beliefs.

Have you ever wrestled with holding on to hope? Using her own story of tragic loss, Shannon gave a picture of how God helps us to hold onto hope even when we feel like letting go. 🌸

Yesterday Marilyn reminded us that hope is fueled in us through connection, knowing we are not alone and by having someone advocate for us. Scripture assures us this is what the Holy Spirit is for, and what we are to be for each other. Hope makes way for peace.

During our second breakfast Sunday morning, with the help of remembered words from her mom and some words from Scripture, Lorna helped us think about what kind of inheritance we have available to us.

In this homily, Jess reflects on the importance of communal readings of Scripture and critically thinking about the challenges that arise within it. She draws our attention to some of the more troubling passages in this week’s lectionary readings, and then offers a reframe that considers the context the passages were written in, inviting us to see Christ as a door who welcomes in those the church has cast out, and a Good Shepherd who places himself between the vulnerable and those who would “steal, kill and destroy” thereby threatening their access to abundant life.

This message explores hope as an active, often uncomfortable choice to remain open, engaged, and connected in the face of uncertainty. It distinguishes hope from passive optimism, showing how optimism shapes our outlook while hope determines our willingness to participate and care. Grounded in real-world examples, Marilyn invites reflection on how we resist cynicism in a divided and unstable world. Ultimately, it calls us to practice hope not through agreement, but through how we show up with one another—choosing connection, even across differences.

In her Easter Homily, Jess reflected on the mystery of the resurrection and considered how to honour the story of Jesus’ death while disentangling ourselves from the vengeful atonement narratives that have been passed on to many of us. Through reflecting on the nature of Love, how death leads to life, and the experience of God through others, she concluded that we are the resurrection, and that it is through witnessing the love of her community that she can say, “Christ is risen; He is risen indeed.”
