We had the sweetest little visitor, Olivia Grover (8 yrs old) stop by the centre with some goodies that she picked out herself to donate 🥰 She proudly told me about some of her recent fundraising efforts & expressed her passion for helping those in need; incredibly wise beyond her years! I have no doubt she’ll change the world with her kind nature, positive attitude & bright spirit! ✨ 🌟 ✨ Keep shining, Olivia! Thank you for thinking of others! 🙏❤️

📣 Allow me to introduce you to Pat & Julie Toth 📣

Yes, they are my parents - so not only do they help me immensely with juggling my hectic home life schedule and all that it entails - but they are both always willing to lend a hand when I need it at work, too! From fundraising events, deliveries & pick ups, Christmas turkey basket handouts, and anything else I need them for - they are always willing to volunteer their time and efforts!

Julie is known for regularly popping by with coffee & treats, which almost always leads to jumping in to answer the phone calls, helping with administrative tasks and the monotonous & time consuming things around the centre we are always struggling to juggle. She is a calm to our storm, and helps keep the flow of things steady when we are overwhelmed. I tell her often but still never enough, that I honestly couldn’t get by without her; at home or at work! 🥰

Pat is a handy man who’s carpentry & organizational skills have been very helpful at the centre! He never says no when we need him, and is always on stand by for when mom and I send to-do lists his way. He may feel as though he’s “volunTOLD” sometimes (😂) but he does it with a smile and we appreciate his help tremendously! 🤗

Thanks for everything, Julie & Pat! We are very lucky to have you and appreciate you both! ❤️

It was a lovely surprise to be presented with a generous donation today at St Stephen High School by Essential Skills students; Reid Henderson & Wyatt Cleghorn 🤝 These two gentleman put in a lot of hard work & effort detailing farm equipment and vehicles as part of their Capstone project - raising an impressive $1000 for our food bank! 😮🥹 I made sure to tell them how much & how many this will help! ♥️ Great work guys, we appreciate you thinking of us, thank you! 👏

📣 Next up: meet Robyn Rennie & Stan, and their sweet boy, Murray 📣

Robyn saw our posts & reached out ages ago asking how she could help with things at the food bank; from fundraising ideas to the hands-on daily flow, she wanted to make life easier for us. And that, she has done in many ways! ❤️ I can always count on her to listen, share advice, and to offer resources and support when I am feeling overwhelmed. She asks the right questions & helps turn my concerns into answers. She even brings us homemade sweet treats when we need a pick-me-up; a true gem! 💎🤗

Stan has decades of experience in the data & tech department, and has helped me in many ways with administrative tasks that require a lot of time. With ease, he’s helped solve technical issues that have been holding us back for years now! His expertise & knowledge, combined with his eagerness to help and desire to volunteer his time = a life saver!! 🛟 From helping to create an information package for donors/community awareness, to creating charts and graphs with data collected from our Feed NB (Link2Feed) software, you name it he’s on it! His attention to detail with projects and the ability to break complicated processes down into easier steps for me is a tremendous help! 💻 📈 📊

They both volunteer their time and effort; including picking up our grocery orders and delivering to the centre for us on order days - so helpful! 🙏

When they found out the volume of printing we do at the centre between the year-round CVITP income tax program & the daily tracking sheets/book keeping etc - they felt a more industrial style printer with a scanner would be ideal, and today - they delivered! 🥹 We are so grateful for this invaluable donation, it will make our lives so much easier and cost us SO much less! THANK YOU Robyn & Stan!!!!! 🥰

Last but not least - we can’t forget Murray! He cheers us up with visits & is a wonderful door greeter to our clients & volunteers! He might be tiny but, he’s kind of a big deal, and he knows it! 😉

Thanks for everything Robyn, Stan, and Murray!

📣 Next up: Say hello to Patrick Lyons 📣

Patrick has been a long time employee of the Volunteer Centre; a tremendous help, consistently reliable & dependable! 🙌 He’s a soft spoken & quiet fella, always ready to tackle whatever hard work comes his way without complaints or hesitation. 🙏
Tuesdays & Thursdays you’ll find him doing runs to local stores to pick up any food available from the recovery programs, lugging heavy loads of supplies in and out of the centre, running errands, taking trash to the town dumpsters (since we don’t have our own), moving things around & putting things away, and carrying stuff up/downstairs - which requires great strength and stamina! 💪 He lives close by and is always quick to answer when we need him for last minute tasks; readily available & eager to help!

Thank you Patrick, for putting up with us crazies 🤪 We are so lucky & happy to have you on our team! 🤗

Over the weekend, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints collected all the food from the annual community food drive they organized - thanks to them, and to our wonderful community members who donated, we received 550lbs of food! 🤩 🙏
We appreciate everyone for donating their time & grocery items! 🛍️📦

📣 Next up, allow me to introduce Colleen Harrington 📣

Colleen has been a long time volunteer with us, and brings such a positive attitude to the team! When she isn’t busy supply teaching in our school district shaping the lives of our youth, she is here making a difference by helping us help our community.
Colleen is gentle & soft spoken, but one of the hardest workers I’ve ever met! 💪 From day one, she’s been amazing at noticing when things need to be done, with minimal instruction or delegation, which we really appreciate in the hustle & bustle of our busy food bank. She is one of the sweetest people & always willing to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever needed. On top of appreciating her volunteer work; we really enjoy her company! 🥰

Thank you, Colleen! You are a true blessing to us & our community, we are very lucky to have you! 🤗

Social media tends to take the back burner when I’m wearing so many “hats”; but doing volunteer and staff shout-outs is something I’ve always wanted to do. They know I appreciate them, but it’s time I MAKE time to publicly acknowledge their contributions - better late than never guys! Lol

First up, allow me to introduce Larry Doherty 👋

Larry is a volunteer who brings tremendous skills & genuine desire to help in any way he can. He volunteers his time all over our community, and we are so glad he decided to stop by and ask how he could give us a much needed hand! He joins us every week and is willing to do whatever task is presented.
Larry is a master hamper packer; he picked up the flow of things quickly & enthusiastically, and really enjoys helping us help others. He also signed up as a CVITP income tax volunteer through our organization and has been a big help with the large volume of taxes we do at the centre! He truly helps encourage us through our tough times with his positivity & support.

Thank you Larry, we really appreciate you and all that you do! 🥰
