Petit-Saguenay Joins the Great Family of the Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec
Tadoussac, June 18, 2026 – The Association of the Most Beautiful Villages of Quebec (APBVQ) is proud to announce the official admission of the Municipality of Petit-Saguenay as a new member during the opening cocktail reception of its annual forum. This gem of the Lower Saguenay region becomes the 40th village to join the Association and, at the same time, the International Federation of the Most Beautiful Villages on Earth.
"Petit-Saguenay beautifully embodies the values we promote: a balance between heritage, landscapes, cultural identity, and warm hospitality. It is a place shaped by water, memory, and beauty," said Sylvain Tremblay, CEO of the Association.
Located along the shores of the Saguenay Fjord, between majestic mountains and the Saguenay River, Petit-Saguenay captivates visitors with its breathtaking scenery. Its towering cliffs, rich forestry heritage, renowned salmon river, and thriving vacation destination status make it one of Quebec’s most iconic communities, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Quebec.”
"The admission of Petit-Saguenay reflects the Association’s new direction, which recognizes communities that stand out not only for their built heritage, but also for their cultural landscapes, community vitality, and commitment to sustainable tourism," explained Philôme La France, Mayor of Petit-Saguenay.
"Petit-Saguenay is a place that tells the story of Quebec. Its membership strengthens the continuity of the Route of the Most Beautiful Villages, linking Port-au-Persil, L'Anse-Saint-Jean, and, on the western shore of the Saguenay River, Sainte-Rose-du-Nord and Tadoussac—pearls on the same necklace surrounding the magnificent Saguenay Fjord," added Jonathan Chalifoux, President of the Association.
