Our Story
The Village Connection Inc. is a volunteer organization that encourages community involvement as an essential element in supporting and promoting healthy individuals, families and communities. We believe that children and families deserve to enjoy a respectful quality of life. We provide opportunities for communities, individuals and families in need.
The Thrift Store started in 1977 under the name "La Boutique". It was started by Mrs. Elisa Desharnais. She would ask friends to donate unneeded clothing which she would store in her spare room and discretely give them to families in need. Payment was voluntary. Soon she had to expand into the RM of DeSalaberry building and shortly after moved to Robidoux Lumber and onwards to the former Novak Store. In 2013, the Village Connection moved to the St. Pierre Trading building. This new location provided the space and visibility needed to conduct a good viable business as it exists today. The purpose of the Village Connection is to direct monies from the thrift store profit back into our local communities, which includes St-Pierre-Jolys, St. Malo, La Rochelle, Dufrost and Otterburne.
