This past Friday the St. Paul Legion opened the hall doors for the April Friday night steak BBQ. The weather wasn't cooperating much with high winds and drifting snow all day long.
This supper was also sponsored by two great Companies with a huge presence in our community. Canadian Tire and Parrish and Heimbecker ( P&H) .
The meal was prepared and served by St. Paul Search and Rescue ( with a little help from some dedicated community minded Legion Members).
The sponsorship, along with the support from the St. Paul Legion meant our Search Team was able to fundraise at this event with door ticket sales going to our Team which we use for operation costs like gas, equipment , repairs, insurance and training .
While the return of wintery conditions may have been a bit of a disappointment to everyone, our communities response to the BBQ was the opposite. They responded in a huge way by filling both the mess hall and the lounge !
Our search team is grateful beyond words for the showing of this support on a snowy evening.
We want to give a BIG thankyou to Paul and his team at Canadian Tire as well as Jim and his Team at P & H for showing their organizations support to Search and Rescue in our community.
We also want to thank Legion President and Veteran Peter Bednarchuk and the whole Team at Legion Branch #100 for inviting us to take this opportunity along with the many Legion Members who either stood outside in the cold to BBQ perfect steaks, give extra helping hands chopping onions, shoveled sidewalks , served refreshments, emptying garbage bins, mopped floors , moved tables or wherever else they could to add helping hands to make this BBQ a success.
Our Search Team is made up of 20 individuals from all walks of life and from many parts of our Country who have come together to work and train together in all weather conditions , on land or in the lakes or rivers so that when the call for help is made day or night , we can respond quickly, effectively and as one strong unified Team.
And we especially want to say THANKYOU St. Paul and area , for braving the weather on Friday night as we all came together -> So Others May Live...
Signed
Team President , Vern
