Violent online groups target and manipulate children and youth across various platforms.

COM – Short for community, “is a virtual network of groups and individuals engaged illicit activities that glorify s*xual abuse and exploitation materials.”
i.e. pe******ia, violence, cruelty, gore

These groups within the COM network target children and vulnerable people. They violate their innocence and use them to recruit others. They operate in social media, online games and applications such as:

Discord, Roblox, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitch, Steam

Many members of these online groups are often young people and adults that were targeted or recruited. They are also more likely to trust another person that they believe is close to their own age when contacted.

These predators may be friendly at first, but the “relationship” evolves rapidly and soon they are encouraging the youth to take part in acts that bring them shame and isolate them from friends and family. This may include sending s*xually explicit photos, committing s*xual acts, exploiting others, harming or killing animals, self-harming and su***de attempts, often on livestreams. They use these images to blackmail and control the youth by threatening to send them to family and friends.

The online group known as “764” has been classified as a terrorist entity by the Government of Canada and the U.S. FBI. This group is made-up of individuals who target and manipulate children through desensitization or threats. They coerce them into engaging in unspeakable acts against themselves, animals, and other children, even su***de. This group often uses the sw****ka symbol, Adolf Hi**er, and Satanic images in their online representation. They conduct bomb threats against schools and Jewish synagogues.

This is more common in larger centres, however we would be very gullible to think that it could not happen in our community. The internet is an incredible tool for education, creativity, and connection, but without proper guidance and boundaries, it exposes children to serious risks. Children and curious and trusting so active parental guidance is imperative.

Keep computers in shared, common areas of your house. Teach your children not to share personal information or photos with online contacts. Monitor closely games or applications that use a microphone or chats. Talk to your children about their digital day the same way that you would discuss their day at school. If they feel safe talking to you, they are more likely to report dangerous or uncomfortable encounters online.

Police charge man with s*xual assault at day home: The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a man in the s*xual assault of a minor at a day home, and investigators believe there may be other victims who have yet to come forward.

In October 2026, police received a report of a 2022 s*xual assault of a child at Shining Stars day home, a private, unlicensed day home in the area of 50 Street and 101 Avenue. The home is not affiliated with any other Edmonton childcare facilities of the same name.

On Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, Michael Doucette, 54, was arrested and charged with s*xual assault, s*xual interference and invitation to s*xual touching in relation to the 2022 incident. Doucette resided at the home and assisted with childcare duties.

The day home opened in 2011, and is no longer in operation.

Investigators believe there may be additional individuals who have not yet come forward, and are asking them to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information may also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.

With Christmas right around the corner we would like to bring up a few issues that come up during the holidays that most people would not even consider until it's too late .

Below is the listed stats on reported s*xual abuse on minors in Canada and unfortunately perpetrators use the holidays to abuse the kids while the family/friends are distracted by the Christmas cheer .

KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE LITTLE ONES , If they say they dont feel comfortable then listen to them.

The reason we share this every year is because children are still being abused even after it always being on the news and social media and we just want kids to enjoy the holidays and not be scared for the rest of their lives .

Now the sh*tty part of it , over the holidays our messenger and support phone lines stay busy all Christmas/new years Hollidays by both survivors of historical s*xual abuse by family members struggling though the season because of all the horrible memories that flow during this season.

Lastly and almost 50% of calls are parents of children that were molested and they did not see the signs until it's too late and they take all the blame on themselves for not being the worlds best parent. Like the survivors of the abuse we try and let the parents know it's the abuser that's responsible for the damage and just be there for your child but it's a hard pill to swallow.

With all the stress for the survivor of historical abuse or the parents of the victims during the holidays and most are now raising families of their own they try and push through the season for their child but it's an internal battle I wish on no one .

We have several families that we like to help each year with our sponsors but the need is greater then its ever been so we are reaching out to our members this year.

Over the past decade we assist with families toy, food and private therapy when needed to help take some of the burden off of and get them through the Hollidays .

According to police-reported data on child and youth s*xual offences:

• Known to the child/youth: 88% of the accused were known to the victim.

• Family members: 38% of the accused were family members.

• Acquaintances: 44% of the accused were acquaintances.

• Intimate partners of the parent: 6% of the accused
