🚑❤️ And that’s a wrap on Community Helpers Week!

We ended our week with a very special visit from our Ambulance Friend! 🚑 The children were so excited to hear that an ambulance was coming!

When the ambulance first arrived, some of our little ones were curious but hesitant to come closer. With the help of our friendly responder, they slowly became more comfortable. Before long, some children were confidently sitting beside him inside the ambulance!

The children explored the ambulance, looked at the different equipment and apparatus, and learned more about how ambulance responders help people in our community. And, of course, the ambulance hat was a favourite! 👒🚑

These real-life experiences help children build a sense of belonging and connection to their community, develop confidence, explore their environment, and form positive relationships with the people around them.

Most importantly, we want our children to recognize that community helpers are friendly people who are there to help, care for, and keep us safe. ❤️

A BIG thank you to our wonderful ambulance responder for making this experience so meaningful and memorable for our little learners! 🚑✨

Community Helpers Week: A Visit to Fire Station 4! ❤️🔥

What a wonderful way to kick off our Community Helpers Week!👩‍🚒👨‍🚒✨

Our children had an amazing opportunity to visit Fire Station 4 in Saint John, New Brunswick,where our friendly neighbourhood firefighters welcomed us with big smiles and open arms! 🚒❤️

The children explored the fire station, got an exciting hands-on experience with the fire truck, and learned so much about what firefighters do to help keep our community safe. Our big kids were especially curious and asked lots of great questions—and our firefighters were happy to answer every one! 🥰

The children even bravely experienced the flashing lights and loud fire truck siren up close!🚨 They also learned what happens when firefighters receive an emergency alert and how quickly they need to respond. What an incredible learning experience! 👏

To end our special visit, the children proudly gave our brave firefighters handmade thank-you cards and chocolates as a little gesture of appreciation. 🍫💌

Greenhouse Day!

Harvest day was extra exciting! Our little gardeners were so happy to discover that the tomatoes they helped grow were finally ripe and ready to pick. 🍅

After harvesting, they happily filled their watering cans and watered the other plants.
Hands-on gardening helps children build curiosity about nature, confidence, responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment—especially when they get to see their tiny seeds grow into something they can harvest! 🌿✨

A Little Soccer Space, A Big Sense of Belonging ⚽🌎

When our new grass playground was completed, we added a soccer ball and a small net to create a simple soccer space for the children. We didn’t know at the time that this little addition would become a meaningful part of our children’s everyday play.
One child, whose family is from Brazil, immediately connected with this space. With excitement and confidence, he began kicking the ball, sharing his love for soccer, and showing his friends how to play. What started as one child enjoying a familiar game from his culture soon became an invitation for everyone to join.
The soccer space became a place where children learned from one another, practiced teamwork, and built friendships. Through his passion, this child naturally became a leader—not because he was asked to, but because he had something special to share.
Soon, children from different backgrounds were passing the ball, cheering each other on, and creating their own moments of connection. Even educators joined in, turning playtime into laughter, movement, and meaningful relationships.

This experience shows how children bring their own cultures, interests, and strengths into our learning environment. A simple soccer space became a place where children felt seen, valued, and included.

At Daycare by Design, we celebrate the unique stories each child brings and create opportunities for children to learn not only from educators—but from each other.
