🪶Honoring the Creator’s Game🪶: The Fundy Lacrosse Association's Commitment to Reconciliation
🪶The Fundy Lacrosse Association, recognizes that our sport exists because of the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Indigenous peoples.
🪶We would first like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather, play, and compete is the traditional, unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Mi'kmaq, and Peskotomuhkati peoples.
🪶On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect deeply on our responsibility to the TRC's Calls to Action for Sport (Numbers 87–91).
These directives call upon the Canadian sports community to:
• Tell the stories of Indigenous athletes and history (Call 87).
• Support elite athletic development and organizations like the North American Indigenous Games (Call 88).
• Rebuild the sports system to systematically reduce barriers to participation for Indigenous youth (Calls 89 & 90).
• Respect territorial protocols and engage local Indigenous communities in sporting events (Call 91).
🪶We pledge to work within our greater Saint John area communities to listen, learn, and ensure that our local fields and arenas remain welcoming, inclusive, and anti-racist spaces for all.
🪶We honor the Survivors, remember the children who never made it home, and commit to action.
