This past week Local 512 in Newfoundland hosted the eastern conference skills competition demonstrating the skill and knowledge union apprentices have by fabricating a copper version of historic Signal Hill site in Newfoundland. We would like to thank and congratulate our Local 437 member Zach Linthorne for attending the skills competition.

We’re asking for your support in distributing a new letter-writing campaign that Canada's Building Trades Unions has undertaken to improve working conditions for
all members. The goal is to push for mandatory prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements in all federally funded projects under
Bill C-5.

The campaign includes a letter addressed to Prime Minister Mark Carney and Minister Patty Hajdu, urging them to align Bill C-5 with the strong labour standards
already found in Bill C-59.
