We are excited to invite you to our next National Community Climate Call!

These calls are a space for Climate Reality Leaders (and members of our Community Climate Hub network) across Canada to reconnect, share ideas, and collaborate on the work that continues long after training ends.

While we usually gather at the regional level, this month’s topic felt too important not to bring everyone together nationally.
We’re thrilled to welcome Rachel Ruback (she/her), North America Project Manager for the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative, joining us from Washington, D.C. (Piscataway lands).

🗓️ When: Thursday, October 23, 2025 | 3:00 PM ET
💻 Where: Zoom
🔗 Register here: https://lnkd.in/daupwuGT

Rachel will lead a discussion on how grassroots organizers can advance the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty at the municipal level, using it as a tool to push for local fossil fuel phaseouts, increase transparency, and turn declared climate emergencies into real commitments.

As always, we’ll close the call with an open networking space for members to connect, share updates, and explore collaboration opportunities across regions. Feel free to share this invitation with other Climate Reality Leaders or local organizers who might want to join the conversation.

Public Statement: Stand United Against the Spruce Lake Industrial Park Decision

The Saint John City Council’s decision to approve the Spruce Lake Industrial Park in Lorneville is a profound disappointment for our community and a clear sign that local voices are being sidelined. Despite an extraordinary outpouring of opposition—through letters, public testimony, and petitions—the concerns of residents have been ignored, and critical questions remain unanswered.

This is not just a setback for Lorneville, but for every community that values transparency, accountability, and genuine representation. The process has left many feeling unheard, but it has also ignited a renewed sense of unity and determination.

Call to Action: Stand With Lorneville

We invite residents from across Saint John and the surrounding region to join together in solidarity with Lorneville. Your support is crucial. Here’s how you can help:

Stay Informed: Follow Save Lorneville’s official social media channels for updates, information, and calls to action.

Be Ready to Mobilise: When the time comes for peaceful demonstrations or community gatherings, your presence will make a difference. Watch for announcements and be prepared to join us in showing our collective strength.

Demonstrate Safely:

- Always follow the guidance of organisers and respect all local laws and regulations.

- Remain peaceful and courteous—our message is strongest when delivered with respect and unity.

- Bring signs, wear visible symbols of support, and encourage friends and family to join.

- Look out for one another, and if you feel unwell or unsafe, prioritise your health and safety.

Together, We Are Stronger

This is a pivotal moment for our region. By standing together, we can amplify our voices and show that the community will not be silenced or divided. Lorneville’s fight is everyone’s fight—let’s show the City and Province the true meaning of solidarity.

Stay tuned, stay united, and let’s make our voices heard—safely, peacefully, and powerfully.

Lorneville stands strong, and with your support, they will not be ignored.

The Health Impact of Neglecting Donkin Mine's Noise Pollution 🚨

Residents near the Donkin Coal mine have been enduring harmful noise pollution for years, but Premier Tim Houston has ignored the growing health crisis. Continuous exposure to tonal noise causes anxiety, sleep disturbances, and chronic stress—but no effective solutions have been put in place.

It’s time for the Premier to take responsibility and prioritize the health and well-being of Nova Scotians. Read Catherine Fergusson’s open letter to the Cape Breton Post and call for action. 🗣️
