What diaspora means. We left the tent in the expert hands of Ron's, who was born and raised in Canada, to tell visitors everything about Indonesia, unsupervised. And with that, Ron has advanced his career at the tent. 😉

There is not just one Indonesian traditional attire. There are 38 provinces in Indonesia and every province is represented by its own traditional attire. Not to mention there are 1,340 recognized ethnic groups who each may have its own specific attire, meaning in one province there may be more than one ethnic group and more than one kind of traditional attire.

In this photo Dede wears Balinese men's attire with an udeng (men's headscarf), a white shirt and a kamen (Balinese sarung / sarong). While Data wears a blangkon (Javanese men's hat) and a batik shirt.

Hello everybody.

Finally, we want to officially introduce ourselves. We are CINTA, (Collective INdonesian CulTures Association). We like the word “cultures” (plural) better instead of “culture” (singular) to emphasize the importance of the ethnocultural diversity in Indonesia, which comprises of more than 17,000 islands; 1,340 recognized ethnic groups and more than 700 unique spoken languages.

CINTA also has a different meaning. In Bahasa Indonesia and Malay, "cinta" means "love". CINTA Saint John is a manifestation of our love for the city, for our community, and for you, who appreciate Indonesian cultures. We want to appreciate you who appreciate us.

We are based in the port city and the first incorporated city in Canada: Saint John, New Brunswick. However, we work together and receive love from our friends - Indonesian diaspora and anybody who is curious and enthusiastic with Indonesia and any of its aspects - in different cities. We want to reach out to and be able to be reached out by you who live in the Atlantic, East Coast, or anywhere in Canada.

Let's talk, get connected, and celebrate diversity.
