Last Saturday we spent a beautiful evening at a Ukrainian Heritage Month event in St. Catharines, "Threads of Ukrainian Heritage". The event was created by Olga Fedus and her company OFAD Design, to show off her embroidery talents, with beautiful shirts, purses, dresses, hats, etc. The Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Niagara sponsored and assisted Olga with this entertaining event. There was good food, musical performances by Zlata Barchuk, Barvinok Dance Ensemble from Burlington, and bandura player Tetiana Cherneta, plus a raffle to raise money for Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine. A lovely, successful evening to celebrate Ukrainian culture and 135 years of Ukrainians in Canada.

Did you know that 135 years ago Canada invited people from Eastern European countries to come and help build Canada, particularly Western Canada. And they came from Southwestern Ukraine especially.

August 24th, Celebrating Ukraine's 35th anniversary of Independence from ruzzian communism. Ukraine is still fighting for its independence, its sovereignty and its very survival from the massive, murderous attacks by ruzzian missiles. Niagara Falls lit up in blue and yellow to remind us that Ukraine did nothing wrong, but putin decided he wanted to take it all. Still fighting!! We remember all the soldiers and innocent people who have been killed in this senseless war of 4 1/2 years now. Slava Ukraini! Heroyam Slava!
