❓Port Colborne infrastructure isn't getting any easier to maintain or develop (aging pipes, bedrock) . . . how is an MSC going to stop water bills increasing?
❓An MSC for water/wastewater is being compared to hydro and gas privatization . . . have your hydro and gas bills been lowered yet? Did you hear about Canada Niagara Power Inc. conducting a survey and one of the options was "I'm ok with ongoing power failures to keep rates the same" 😱
❓Port Colborne surely has infrastructure improvements 🛠️planned, if an MSC takes on heavy debt to build treatment plants or replace water mains, it must pay that debt using utility customer fees.
❓Port Colborne will have to purchase two plants and a water tower, whose 💲 is paying for that?
💰💰💰Operating an arm's-length corporation requires an independent board of directors, separate financial auditing, and distinct corporate staff, adding an upfront administrative layer that must be funded through utility revenues.
Remember the fiasco that was NYON? 🔥No? 10 years of litigation and nothing to show for it, while the City's money (ahem taxpayer money) was wasted. Don't let it happen again with our water and our money, make the City answer your questions!
