To give the board time needed to thoughtfully incorporate our members feedback into the Strategic Plan, the decision has been made to move the CTRA Conference to September 15-17 2026.

Thank you to the Recreation Therapists who bring evidence, compassion, and intention to their practice every day. Thank you to students, educators, researchers, and allies who continue to advance the profession. And thank you to the individuals, families, and communities who trust Recreation Therapy as part of their health and wellbeing.

Throughout February, we highlighted Therapeutic Recreation: Evidence in Action—showcasing how recreation therapy supports healing, recovery, connection, and quality of life across settings and across the lifespan.

The work does not end with the month. Advocacy, education, and access to Recreation Therapy matter year-round.

Let’s keep the conversation going and continue to advocate for meaningful, evidence-informed recreation therapy services.

It’s time to bust some common myths about Recreation Therapy.

Recreation Therapists and TR Professionals do more than “just play games.” They use meaningful, purposeful activities as therapeutic tools to support health, recovery, and connection.

Recreation Therapy does more than reduce boredom—it addresses deeper issues such as isolation, loss of purpose, and barriers to participation.

Recreation Therapy is not an add-on service. It is a vital component of healthcare delivered by trained professionals who assess needs, set goals, and implement evidence-based interventions.
