WHO ARE OUR CLINICS FOR? Equity deserving populations that have barriers accessing ‘traditional’ healthcare services.

Approximately 30% of REACH Niagara clients do not have a health card. This means that without REACH, their ability to access care is extremely limited, oftentimes leading to Emergency Department visits.

By not requiring health cards, community members can access care at REACH Niagara clinics, improving their quality of life and reducing unnecessary Emergency Department visits.

Here's where the REACH clinic team will be this week! Our clinics support those who are without, or are at risk of losing access to, basic necessities such as food, water, and shelter.

Please note that there will be no primary care at Tuesday's Howard Johnson clinic; however, system navigation and counselling are still available.

Services include:
- Primary Care
- Counselling Support
- Select Form Support (ODSP, WSIB, Special Diet Allowance etc.)

For the past year, we’ve been grateful to work with Positive Living Niagara to deliver the Welcoming Streets Initiative. Since April 2025, this program has:

🚨 Diverted 228 calls to emergency services
🤝 Made more than 1,900 connections to services such as meal programs, harm reduction services, and REACH clinics
👋 Allowed block workers to make more than 6,300 community member interventions

It's an important example of the power of collaboration in building resilient communities.

Building trust-centered relationships takes time, but the impact can be significant. A recent REACH Niagara example shows this in action.

A community member experiencing homelessness first visited the Mobile Health Clinic for harm reduction and hygiene supplies, eventually returning regularly to chat. Later, they sought treatment for a serious burn, which was successfully treated and healing well at a follow-up visit.

Without an established relationship with the clinic team, they may not have accessed care as quickly.

Here's where REACH teams will be breaking down barriers this week! REACH clinics provide high-quality healthcare to vulnerable populations, including those that are unhoused, precariously housed, and experiencing poverty.

Please note the cancellation of the Howard Johnson clinic on Tuesday, May 26.
