The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) is a voluntary, non-profit, self-funded, non-governmental organization with clubs in every province and an affiliation to provincial, national and international levels. CFUW members are committed to the pursuit of knowledge, the promotion of education and improvement of the status of women and their human rights. CFUW members represent a cross-sec
tion of Canada. We are businesswomen, scientists, homemakers, healthcare professionals, lawyers, and educators. We reflect our country and our community and are proud contributors to public affairs. In 1921, CFUW St. Catharines was established and our current membership of 200+ women in Niagara is active in the local community. We share our knowledge and friendship through our specialized Interest and Service groups. With more than 25 areas of interest, our members have fun... learn... and help out in our community. Support for education has been a longstanding priority of CFUW St. Since 1975, we have held our Annual House Tour as our primary fundraiser for annual awards, scholarships and bursaries for women studying at local high schools, Niagara College and Brock University. In addition, the CFUW House Tour provides support for local charities benefitting women and children, including our own Gift of Reading Program which gives thousands of books annually to local elementary school children. The CFUW House Tour is held on the first Sunday in May and ticketholders spend the afternoon visiting Niagara homes of character and distinction. Every home has a story and the Annual CFUW House Tour shares the uniques stories of a select group of homes which offer fascinating architecture, decor, furniture and memorabilia. Every year, there are new surprises to experience... So please join us this May for a wonderful and enjoyable Sunday afternoon with your friends in support of women's education!
