🐕‍🦺 DOWN and STAY! 🎯🐾
A down-stay is more than just a command — it's an important skill for our Medical Service Dogs!
At Courageous Companions, we train our dogs to remain calm, settled, and focused in a variety of environments, even when distractions are all around them. Whether they're in a restaurant, at a doctor's appointment, or out in public, they need to know that sometimes their job is simply to lie down, stay alert, and wait patiently for their handler. 🇨🇦❤️🐾 Your donation puts a trained partner at the side of a Canadian veteran or First Responder. CF Veteran Steve took a moment this morning to pause his work and enjoy some heartwarming cuddles with his service dog, K9 Sully. Sully is Steve's second service dog from Courageous Companions, following the loss of his first dog last year. This special bond brings comfort and joy to Steve, showcasing the profound connection between veterans and their service dogs.Your donation can help make this life-changing partnership possible for a Canadian Veteran or First Responder. 🇨🇦🎗️https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=CFRBVYQ99YXNL&fbclid=IwY2xjawVAvDFleHRuA2FlbQIxMABwZG9mBWJyaWQRMWJWaWFUYUwwbnRyWnpvbTZzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEem1k3jjtyRZ3Ds7KIbTEDmvkHu4SaOWjPAWIZ_V2PKfipZUaHRVm4xc2-hhg_aem_OuVIjTb2GurK1G1SBlRS6A&ssrt=1728520441998

🐾🇨🇦 Paws, ballots & civic duty! 🗳️
SDiT Louie made it out to vote in Alberta this morning! 🐶✔️
He’s learning all about being a good citizen… one outing at a time! 😉 We think he deserves a treat for a job well done! 🦴

No politics, just pawsitive participation! 🐾💙

No excuses. No fancy equipment. Just 10 minutes, a leash, and your focus! 🎯
Try this simple training drill with your pup:
⏱️ 2 MINUTES – STRUCTURED LEASH WALK
Head up, no sniffing. You set the pace and lead the way.
⏱️ 2 MINUTES – PLACE COMMAND
Ask your dog to get onto a raised surface and stay put. Build patience, calmness, and control.
⏱️ 2 MINUTES – EYE CONTACT
Wait for your dog to look at you. The moment they engage? Mark it and reward! 👀
⏱️ 2 MINUTES – OBEDIENCE
Practice sit, down, stand, and repeat. Build clear communication and reliable responses.
⏱️ 2 MINUTES – RELEASE & RELAX
Let your dog unwind calmly beside you. Training isn't always about commands — sometimes it's about learning to settle.

🐾 Consistency builds confidence. Focus builds trust. Small moments create strong partnerships.
At Courageous Companions, every training session helps build the skills our Medical Service Dogs need to succeed alongside their handlers. ❤️🇨🇦
