Atlantic International Studies Organization (ATLIS)

Atlantic International Studies Organization (ATLIS) We are committed to fostering informed undergraduate participation in international issues through scholarship and social and political involvement.

The ATLIS Organization is a dedicated group of students from many disciplines committed to finding new and innovative ways to engage students with the world around them. Our peer-reviewed journal is one of the first of its kind in the region, and provides a much-needed venue for high- quality undergraduate essays. In attempts to promote scholarship and develop invaluable professional skills, ATLIS

hosts an annual conference relating to a major issue facing the international community as an opportunity for students to present their own papers to their peers and professors. The conference also draws NGOs and government agencies from across Canada to speak, participate in discussions and present their activities.

Interested in becoming a published author? The ATLIS Journal is open for submissions for the 2021 publication: “Sifting Through the Wreckage.” We are interested in publishing papers from all disciplines that discuss how contemporary events have broken down social and institutional norms. How does privilege affect experiences in crisis? Who retains power in vulnerable times? What has deconstruction revealed about individuals and communities on local to international scales? When we imagine ourselves on the other side of current crises, what values, mindsets, or systems are we hoping to maintain?

Please send your paper and a brief explanation (150 words) of how it fits the theme to [email protected] by midnight of December 22, 2020.

Questions? Send an email to [email protected]. We’re more than happy to answer any questions or concerns about the submission and publication process.

The Editorial Team works with ATLIS throughout the year. The team cultivates the theme, collaborates with peer reviewers to select submissions and edits each paper to create a scholastic journal. We welcome students from all years and disciplines to apply. Applications and more information about ATLIS can be found at https://atlis.wordpress.com

Applications are due by midnight on Sunday September 20.

If you’re interested in becoming a peer-reviewer or author in the winter semester, we invite you to fill out the contact information section of the application to receive email updates about the process. This is not the last opportunity to apply for these positions.
