What a great way to end the year!!

677 Russell Royal Canadian Air Cadets finished the year off with a spectacular final parade on May 26 at the George P. Buleziuk Centre in Russell, MB. They were lucky enough to have Major Terrence Henry attend and take part in the parade as our reviewing officer.

This year our cadets took part in many different activities such as the Field Training Exercise
(FTX), Winter Survival Training, Marksmanship Zones and Provincials, Orienteering, and Rockets Day. We are very proud of how our cadets have grown and taken leadership in the program.

We love to see our squadron grow and would be overjoyed to have additional first year cadets this coming fall. Registration is September 8th, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. in the George P.
Buleziuk Centre. We hope to see lots of new faces there!

On May 3rd, 677 Russell Royal Canadian Air Cadets participated in a Canadian Armed Forces Familiarization Activity where they marched alongside other squadrons in the Battle of the Atlantic Parade in Brandon, Manitoba.

Our cadets spent the day celebrating the Canadian efforts in the war. After the parade they viewed the Commonwealth Training Plan Museum, learning even more about Canada’s contributions to the war. The courage and determination of our Canadians was vital to the victory of our allies.

This is just one way our air cadets honour the Canadian Armed Forces and learn about their contributions to past wars. It was a beautiful sunny day full of respect and our squadron was more than honoured to attend.

April 2026, the 677 Russell Royal Canadian Air Cadets Marksmanship team had the honour of attending provincials! They travelled down to Shilo, MB and had a great weekend.

After they finished shooting in prone position (laying down) on April 18, they were placed second overall. By the end of the weekend Russell finished in sixth place.

Their team consisted of five cadets including Flight Corporal (FCpl.) Alyssa LeComte, FCpl. Tristen Layh, FCpl. Abe Driedger, Leading Air Cadet (LAC) William Getz, and LAC Emmett LeComte. They also had Civilian Instructor Travis Layh as their wonderful coach, who supported them through the whole experience. The team worked hard to prepare for provincials, practicing twice a week for over a month. Each and every cadet did their best to benefit the team.

Participating in marksmanship is just one of the many opportunities the air cadet program offers. The program itself promotes leadership and belonging. Being a member of the marksmanship team is just one of the many ways to be part of a team.
