WIBCA was proud to host the 2nd Edition of the West Island Anti-Racism Forum! ✊🏾🤝🏾
It was a powerful day of meaningful dialogue, learning, and connection focused on addressing systemic discrimination, strengthening intercultural understanding, and fostering a more united and inclusive community.
We were honoured to welcome community members, partners, and leaders who came together to share perspectives and reaffirm the importance of standing against racism in all its forms.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to these important conversations, and to our partners at Bharat Bhavan Foundation for their commitment and collaboration.
Together, we can continue building a stronger, more inclusive community for all. ❤️🖤💚

On August 20, we gathered to say a heartfelt farewell to a true legend, Dr. Oliver Jones. ❤️🎹
We honour and celebrate the extraordinary life and legacy of a musical icon, mentor, and proud Montrealer whose talent and impact touched generations.
Dr. Jones gave so much to the world through his music, but his legacy extends far beyond the piano. He inspired countless people through his passion, excellence, humility, and dedication to his community.
As we said farewell, we reflected with gratitude on a life beautifully lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
Rest in power, Dr. Oliver Jones. Your music, your spirit, and your legacy will never be forgotten. 🕊️🎶

🛹✨ A NEW SPACE FOR OUR YOUTH TO PLAY, CREATE & THRIVE!
WIBCA was proud to be part of the official opening of the very first skatepark in Pierrefonds-Roxboro!🎉
It was an incredible day bringing the community together through sports, recreation, music, and youth engagement — with free skate lessons, exciting demonstrations, and an evening competition that kept the energy going! 🛹🎶
We were also pleased to connect with Benoît Langevin, whose dedication and efforts have been instrumental in helping make this skatepark a reality.
Creating accessible spaces where young people can play, learn, build confidence, and thrive is a milestone for Pierrefonds-Roxboro and a wonderful investment in the future of our community. 💙
Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this vision to life! Here’s to many years of skating, connection, creativity, and community. 🙌🏾

What a meaningful way to celebrate Emancipation Season 2026. ❤️🖤💚
On July 30 & 31, WIBCA was proud to partner with Black Girl Magic Canada to present the Youth Camp Emancipation Workshops—a two-day experience dedicated to cultural and historical education, leadership, wellness, creativity, and community building.
A special thank you to Svens Telemaque, who facilitated the workshops with passion and purpose, creating a space where young people could learn, reflect, and grow. Watching the children actively engage, ask thoughtful questions, express themselves creatively, and leave with a deeper appreciation of their history and heritage was truly inspiring.
These moments remind us why investing in our youth matters. By teaching our stories, celebrating our resilience, and building strong community connections, we empower the next generation to lead with confidence and pride.
Thank you to everyone who helped make these workshops such a powerful and memorable part of Emancipation Season 2026. Together, we continue to honour the past while inspiring the future. ✨

🇯🇲 What an incredible weekend celebrating Jamaica's 64th year of Independence! 💚💛🖤
The celebrations began on Friday evening with an unforgettable performance by the legendary Leroy Sibbles, the King of Bassline Reggae, setting the perfect tone for an amazing weekend.
On Saturday, the festivities continued at Jamaica Day in the Park at Martin Luther King Park, where the community came together under beautiful sunshine to enjoy vibrant music, delicious Jamaican cuisine, and the warmth of Caribbean culture. The energy, pride, and togetherness on display made it a truly memorable celebration.
WIBCA extends heartfelt congratulations and thanks to President Sharon Nelson and her dedicated team for their outstanding work in bringing this celebration to life and for proudly showcasing the richness of Jamaican culture here in Montreal. Your passion, commitment, and leadership made this weekend a tremendous success.

Representing WIBCA, our President, Joan Lee, was honoured to attend the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Conference on July 23 at the Delta Hotel, centered on the theme "Realizing Potential for All Women." 💜
The day brought together passionate leaders, advocates, and changemakers committed to advancing equity, strengthening communities, and creating opportunities for women to thrive. From the opening remarks by Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer to inspiring keynote presentations by Carla Fehr, Julie S. Lalonde, and Na'kuset, along with thoughtful facilitation by Anne-Norrante Alexandre and insights from Volunteer Ottawa, every conversation reinforced the importance of collaboration and collective leadership.
WIBCA is grateful for the opportunity to be part of these meaningful discussions and to continue building partnerships that empower women, uplift communities, and inspire lasting change.
A special thank you to National President Linda Sestock for the invitation. Together, we move forward by supporting one another and realizing the potential in every woman. 💜
