MISSION UPDATE - Operation Feed is proud to support an incredible initiative led by Captain Mike Dullege — a Family Medicine resident at the University of Alberta and member of the Canadian Armed Forces.
This summer, from July 31 to August 3, Mike and a team of volunteer soldiers and civilians will take 15 at-risk youth from Edmonton to Rocky Mountain House for an unforgettable outdoor experience through Operation Drift Away.
Many of these youth have experienced trauma, are currently in care, or have been excluded from traditional camp programs due to age or complex circumstances. This program gives them something many of us take for granted — a chance to connect, grow, heal, and experience the outdoors in a safe and supportive environment.
Over four days, these kids will camp, hike, mountain bike, and raft while learning resiliency, survival, teamwork, and confidence-building skills from current and former military members. To close out the experience, a Canadian folk singer will lead a songwriting workshop to help these youth find and share their voices.
To make this possible, Mike is fundraising for essential outdoor equipment including:
• Sleeping bags & mats
• Headlamps
• Water bottles
• Camping chairs & pillows
• Hygiene supplies
• Sunscreen & basic camp gear
For many participants, access to this equipment is the only thing standing between them and this life-changing experience.
If you’re able to support, donate, or share this campaign, it would mean the world. Every contribution helps give these kids an opportunity they may never otherwise have.
Please consider supporting Operation Drift Away. 🇨🇦
