Join us this Friday August 28 at the Lions Hall from 11:30 to 1:30 for a burger lunch with proceeds in support of our school projects. Stop in for a burger, stock up on groceries at Friesen's Bigway, shop the Rosthern & District Farmers Market, check out the bargains at MCC Thrift (Clothes Basket), and have dessert at Lil Bean Ice Cream! What a great way to spend a sunny Friday afternoon!

The new Bingo licence year starts on Monday August 17 (3rd Monday of the month). Doors open at 6, bingo starts at 7. Proceeds this month are for the Grade 5 calculators - every student gets the same make and model to use through their school years at no cost. See you Monday - bring a friend!

Last week some of our Rosthern Lions used Dessert Night as the occasion to present the Seager Wheeler Farm with a cheque for $3,000. This is only possible because of the community support for our annual Pasta Night fundraiser. If you would like to be part of an organization that not only serves the community, but has fun doing it, contact a Lions member!

Congratulations to Dean and all the graduates from Rosthern Community School! And we are so grateful to Carol Craik for making these annual presentations so meaningful. Her late husband Jim was dedicated to both teaching and Lions and we are proud to continue his legacy through our scholarship program.

Rosthern Lions were pleased to present students at RJC High School with Jim Craik Memorial Scholarships. There were several excellent applications and the scholarship committee decisions were difficult. Shown in front are Anna Hrycuik, Lilah Flieg Bacheschi, Carol Craik, and Stefan Jones, with Lion President Nathan Janzen, Lion Bryan Kingston and Lion Marianne Kramchynsky. Anna’s father Darcy is a Rosthern Lion, as were her grandfather Walter Hrycuik, and her great-grandfather Eugene Groshong. Her grandmother Gwen Hrycuik also served with Carol in the Lionel’s ladies group for many years. Congratulations to all the winners and our best wishes to all the graduates. 👩‍🎓👨‍🎓👏 Well done!

Representatives from the Province, Department of Justice, Provincial Court, Town of Rosthern, and Rosthern Lions were on hand today to announce the new Municipal Court that will be held quarterly in Rosthern at the Lions Hall. The establishment of a bylaw and traffic court will permit the Provincial Court to focus on criminal matters while specially trained Justices of the Peace will preside over the bylaw and traffic matters.
