Students and families at Eckoe Public School in Glencoe Make a Large donation of Children’s Books to the area’s Rodney Kiwanis Children’s Literacy Campaign!
Co-chairs of the Rodney Kiwanis Signature Project, their Children’s Literacy Program, Larry Schneider and Sharon Little, visited Eckoe Public School in Glencoe on Thursday, May 14 to receive a substantial donation of books for the Blue Boxes for Books (BBB) program in our area. The Kiwanis Club is holding its annual spring book drive, and the Eckoe school family decided to donate all of the books remaining from their recent book sale to this project!
In the first photo staff and students display many of the books being donated, to be shared with other children in the area, along with Eckoe P.S. Principal Matthew Chevalier, and Kiwanis member Sharon Little. Such amazing generosity, and caring for others!
The second photo shows a few of the nine boxes of children’s books donated, which filled Larry's vehicle to the brim! These books will be processed, then distributed over the coming months to the BBB locations throughout West Elgin and Dutton, and now to Eckoe P.S. Many thanks to the parents, staff, and students of Eckoe for this most generous, appreciated, and important contribution. Reading builds young minds, hearts, and character!

The Kiwanis Club of Rodney and Staples Strathroy Donate over $2000 to Eckoe P.S. in Glencoe
Each year the Kiwanis Club of Rodney partners with the Staples store in Strathroy to raise funds for schools in our area which have families and students in need, as part of the Back to School program, raising a percentage of all sales during that period for programs and supplies. In past years, several Strathroy schools, Aldborough Public School, and last year, Mosa P.S. have received such a donation. This year’s recipient is Eckoe P.S. in Glencoe. Staples representative Jessica Regimbal once again brought a cheque and some gifts for the school, which was presented to students and staff, with Rodney Kiwanians Larry Schneider, Staple/Kiwanis project Chair, and Sharon Little, President Elect of the Club being present, to celebrate this donation of $2044.90!
