Don't miss the museums in Boundary Country when you travel through on the Trans Canada Trail Kettle Valley and the Columbia and Western Rail Trails.

The Kettle River Museum is right now only open Monday through Friday but on June 22 they will be starting to be open on weekends as well. Make sure to plan your trip around the museum schedules if you have any flexibilty. They will give you an interpretative experience to understand the history of the rail trail and the local region so you will be able to really appreciate what you are travelling though.

What's On Your Boots? 🥾

From seeds to small insects, our boots can help invasive species move between spaces. Whenever you're visiting trails:

✅ Clean boots, packs, and clothes.
✅ Remove mud, seeds, and plant material before and after visiting trails
✅ Stay on designated paths
✅ Use a boot brush or boot brush stations when available

Stop invasives in their tracks, no matter where you go.

Does “June-uary” have you fired up to do some burning?

🌧️ After a few days of cool, wet weather, the wildfire risk has dropped in some areas, but not everywhere. Parts of the province are still experiencing drought like conditions💧and it only takes a few warm and dry days for fine fuels to dry out again.

With warmer, drier weather coming, the wildfire risk will rise quickly as things start to dry.

📊 We look at a range of weather and fuel indices to guide our decisions on open fire prohibitions. Right now, campfires are allowed throughout much of B.C., but Category 2 and Category 3🔥open fire prohibitions remain in place in some areas due to those underlying dry conditions.

If you are having a campfire, please:

✍️ Check conditions: Make sure campfires are allowed in your area. Don't burn if it's windy.

🤔 Burn wisely: Keep campfires small - no bigger than 0.5 metres by 0.5 metres. Use a fire ring or pit. Clear a fuel break around your fire free of anything that can burn.

👀 Watch it: Never leave a fire unattended. Keep at least 8 litres of water or a firefighting hand tool - like a shovel - within reach.

🪣 Put it out: Cold to the touch, not just out of sight, before you leave.

Enjoy the rain while it lasts. And remember, your fire, your responsibility.

It even matters where you park. Please park in only designated areas to prevent transfer of seeds.

Before every ride, 🚲🏍️

A little cleanup goes a long way. Knock off mud, clear debris from bikes, ATVs, and tires, and give your gear and footwear a quick clean between rides.

👉 When we travel, invasive species can travel with us, and go even farther than they would on their own.

Clean before you go to keep enjoying the ride.
