This September marks the 15th anniversary of World Alzheimer’s Month, an international campaign to raise dementia awareness and challenge stigma. This year’s campaign centres on the benefits of early diagnosis.
An earlier, accurate dementia diagnosis can mean sooner access to support, education and treatment — and greater autonomy for those living with dementia when planning for their future. However, fear and stigma still keep many people from seeking help, in Manitoba and around the world.
Finding and accessing the resources for a dementia diagnosis can be challenging for many. If you are facing barriers to diagnosis, are looking for support in accessing resources or wanting guidance on the next steps please reach out to Dementia Helpline.
