Catering is a way that the trainees get to be creative, try new recipes and follow a schedule to deliver some beautiful dishes on time.
Last week we had the pleasure of catering for 35 students from Brisbane School of Distance Education.

It was fun creating food to look fun, appealing and my favourite outcome is lots of empty platters.
We look for to our next function.

Every week the trainees make over 350 meals to local charities (actually last week they made 600 meals for Ronald McDonald House, Stepping Stones and Citipoint Church) but what is always hard is to understand who actually receives them...

So last week Eat for your Life invited members from Stepping Stone Clubhouse to come and share lunch with the trainees.

Plus as a way of saying thank you for their support we invited Joe Kelly MP, Suncoast Fresh and members from Your Town to see what the trainees have been creating in the kitchen with the donated goods.

It was only 6 weeks ago that these trainees stepped into the kitchen, picked up a knife and learn how to cut up vegetables and read a recipe, however the dishes they created was amazing. Crispy hassle back potatoes, Creamy pumpkin soup, fresh garden salad, delicious roast chicken and honey glazed carrots. Plus 3 amazing desserts.

They all came together and decorated the room beautifully ready for the guests, served the delicious food but most importantly met some of the members who receive their meals. This was a very special day and we can't wait to host another event.

☕️Barista in Training ☕️
Last week the trainees spent two days with Dawn Stanton learning how to make barista style coffees. From Long Black to Cappuccino they are now equipped with the knowledge and thanks to Merlo Coffee kind donation of coffee beans and cups they are ready to try out their new skills in the kitchen.

With Boonah & Kalbar Mitre 10 – I just got recognized as one of their top fans! 🎉

What was once a patch of dirt is now starting to look like a garden.

Thank you to Boonah & Kalbar Mitre 10 for donating herbs, vegetables and edible flowers to help brightened up our Wellness Garden.
I can't wait until we are harvesting our very own snow peas, decorating baked goods with edible flowers and adding flavour and colour to our charity meals using fresh herbs.

This garden is going to be a great way to educate the trainees about seasonal produce, how to grow and take ownership of something and become a better cook in the kitchen. Plus if they are ever feeling overwhelmed and need to step out this garden will allow them to ground themselves, step into nature and come back with a clear mind.

It's more than a patch of dirt, it will grow into something special for the charity.
