On Wednesday we saw a little bit of magic be created in the canteen as we celebrated Book Week with Coorparoo Secondary College.
We chose Harry Potter as the theme for the day creating Pastry Slytherin Snacks, Sorting Hat Cupcakes, Pastry Howlers and Witch's Brew drinks.
Next week the Ekka will be arriving in the canteen, stay tuned to find out what fun we have installed for the canteen.

Our gardening is growing however we are not the only one who is enjoying it, the birds and possum's have enjoyed our parsley, lettuce and baby pansies. Hopefully this cover will help us to enjoy the garden a little more.

18 weeks ago we met our second group of trainees for the year, a little nervous but keen to learn about a commercial kitchen.

90 working days later and they are finished their traineeship and obtained their Certificate I in Hospitality plus learnt their barista skills.

But most importantly they have learnt so much about themselves.
👩‍🍳How to be creative, 👨‍🍳follow a recipe, 👩‍🍳come to work every day eager to learn and 👨‍🍳no matter how many dishes we have, they all need to be done and put away.

Two trainees have been accepted as apprentices in restaurants, one has found a new career direction as a hairdresser, 2 are working towards an apprenticeship in a bakery and one would like to become a bar tender.

Good luck for the future Bonnie, Deacon, Fransour, Jamie, Josh and Sorcha.

Trainees on site.

We had the privilege of being invited to attend the Coorparoo Secondary College Athletics Carnival today. It was a great experience for the trainees, some had never used a BBQ.

Thank you to Suncoast Fresh for kindly donating a box of Pink Lady Apple, the students and staff really enjoyed them.

Only one day to go for this group of trainees, they have really grown over the past 18 weeks, it was a nice day out in the sun sharing the fun with the students.

Catering is a way that the trainees get to be creative, try new recipes and follow a schedule to deliver some beautiful dishes on time.
Last week we had the pleasure of catering for 35 students from Brisbane School of Distance Education.

It was fun creating food to look fun, appealing and my favourite outcome is lots of empty platters.
We look for to our next function.
