⏳ Just one week left to double your impact!

💙 Until June 30, every gift to our Brighter Days, Fuller Plates campaign will be matched by Montrose Properties, up to $10,000. That means more food, more support, and more meals for children and families across Richmond.

School-aged children make up nearly 1 in 5 people we serve, and summer can be especially challenging when school meal programs pause.

🍎 For just $20, you can provide a week's worth of food for a family of four, and right now, that impact doubles.

Don't miss the chance to make your gift go twice as far!

🌟 We’re excited to welcome Adrian, Program Assistant, and Charles, Volunteer Assistant, to the team this summer thanks to support from the Canada Summer Jobs program!

This summer, Adrian and Charles are helping keep our programs running smoothly by supporting food distribution, program delivery, volunteer coordination, and administrative tasks. Their hard work and dedication are helping us serve our community more efficiently during one of our busy seasons.

We’re grateful to have them on board and look forward to the impact they’ll make in the weeks ahead! 💙

🎤 Get to know our volunteers!

💙 Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, and each one brings their own unique experiences, stories, and reasons for giving back.

Last week, we asked some of our volunteers one simple question: What’s your favourite part of volunteering?

✨ Watch to hear their answers and get to know some of the amazing people who help make the Richmond Food Bank such a special community!

💬 "Thanks to the pads from the food bank, I no longer need to worry about where to buy them. They are not only high quality, but also allergy-free for me." - Iryna, RFBS client

🍎 At the food bank, support goes beyond groceries. Access to essential items like menstrual products can make a meaningful difference for individuals and families already facing difficult choices.

🤝 Thanks to the Menstrual Equity Fund, we’re able to provide high quality menstrual products to vulnerable clients in our community, helping reduce one more barrier to everyday well-being.

💙 Everyone deserves access to the essentials they need with dignity and care.

👋 Volunteer Spotlight

Meet Sophie! She’s been volunteering with us for over 5 years, starting during COVID. When the pandemic hit, Sophie was one of many who lost their jobs at the airport. The food bank community supported her both mentally and emotionally until she found her footing again.

🍲 Today, Sophie gives back the same care. From bin washing to outreach and cooking for volunteers, she's done it all! Our Saturday volunteers always look forward to her delicious (and creative!) lunches.

💬 Her words say it best:
“Never underestimate a duty that’s been given to you, even if it’s from the bottom of the ranks. Nothing goes wasted when it comes to helping the community.”

💙 Thank you, Sophie, for sharing your many talents with us.

⏳ We’re halfway through our Brighter Days, Fuller Plates campaign and there’s still time to double your impact!

School-aged children make up 19% of the people we serve, and when school’s out, many lose access to the meals they rely on. That’s why we’re helping provide nutritious food to children and families across Richmond all summer long. 💙

Last year, this campaign helped provide 1,070 meal kits to local families, and with your support, we can do it again!

💬 "The food bank helped us get through a difficult time. Knowing there was food for my children during the summer took a huge weight off my shoulders."

✨ Just $20 can provide a week's worth of food for a family of four.
✨ Thanks to Montrose Properties, every donation made before June 30 will be matched, up to $10,000.

🍽 That means twice the meals. Twice the impact. Twice the support for local families.

Help us finish the month strong and ensure every child has access to the food they need this summer. ☀️🍎

We’re proud to be period-friendly at the Richmond Food Bank! 💙

Access to menstrual products is a basic need, just like food. Being period-friendly means showing up for our community in real, tangible ways and ensuring dignity, health, and inclusion for everyone who walks through our doors.

Today is Menstrual Health Day and we’re recognizing the importance of menstrual equity and the organizations working to make period products more accessible for all.

Looking for free period products in your community? Explore the Period Pin map to find period-friendly organizations across Canada.

✨️ Thinking about planned giving?

Turn your legacy into something that truly lasts and help create a future where no one goes hungry. 🍽️

Planned Giving is a powerful way to turn your values into lasting impact. By including the Richmond Food Bank in your will, estate plan, or life insurance, you help support long-term food security for generations to come.

It’s more than a gift; it’s a legacy of care, dignity, and community.

If this is something you’re considering, speak with your lawyer or financial advisor to explore what’s right for you.

Every gift makes a real difference! 💙

We’re already seeing the impact of this year’s Brighter Days, Fuller Plates campaign, and we’re so grateful for the support our community has shown so far. 💙

For many students, summer means more than a break from school. It also means losing access to reliable school meal programs. Families in our community are facing the added challenge of keeping growing kids fed during the months ahead.

With your help, we can continue providing nutritious meals and support to children and families in Richmond throughout the summer and beyond.

We’re grateful to Montrose Properties for once again matching every donation dollar-for-dollar until the end of June, helping each contribution go even further. ✨

Together, we can make sure brighter days come with fuller plates. ☀️🍽️
