đ A Message to RCNS Families and the Richmond Community đ
Dear RCNS Families and the Richmond Community,
As the year comes to a close, Iâve been thinking a lot about everything our program has been throughâand everything weâve come through together. Over our 50 years in this community, weâve certainly had our share of ups and downs, but this past year was unlike anything we could have expected.
What was meant to be a year of celebrationâour 50th anniversaryâquickly became a year of challenge, change, and resilience. Instead of planning a milestone celebration, we were suddenly asking much harder questions:
How do we stay open?
How do we protect this program?
How do we continue to support the preschool children and families who depend on us?
We lost our funding with less than six weeksâ notice.
We worried daily about keeping our doors open.
We faced an unexpected flood.
We managed a sudden and incredibly stressful relocation.
Through it all, we carried the responsibility of protecting a program that has meant so much to this community for five decades.
And through every challenge, one thing never waveredâyou.
The support from this community has been incredible. Your kind words, generosity, and belief in this program carried us through moments of real uncertainty. We truly felt supported every step of the way.
Today, Iâm incredibly grateful to say that we are still here.
Weâre back in our space, our doors are open, and weâre continuing to provide the care, learning, and connection that preschoolers and their families rely onâbecause of you.
I also want to recognize the dedication within our RCNS family. Susan has been part of this program for 10 years, and Iâm coming up on 20 years myself. Weâve been through a lot together, but nothing quite like this past year.
As we head into the Christmas holidays, Iâm looking forward to a chance to slow down, rest, and resetâsomething I donât take for granted. I hope this season brings you peace, warmth, and special moments with the people you love.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Thank you for standing with us, believing in us, and helping us continue a 50-year legacy of care. This wasnât the anniversary year we imagined, but your support has given us something even more meaningfulâthe chance to keep doing what we love.
With heartfelt thanks,
Krista
