Make one of Family Place's favourite summer activities at home!

If you have joined us in programs during the summer, you and your children have likely explored various toys or pieces of nature frozen in ice. This activity gives children the chance to strengthen their fine motor, and problem solving, skills by working through the ways they can break the items out of the ice.

How to make this at home:
✨ Collect any age-safe toys or items that you want to freeze.
✨ This can include flower petals, leaves, toy animals, toy cars etc.
✨ Fill a freezer safe container full of the selected items and water.
✨ Freeze until fully frozen through.
✨ Once frozen, provide children with various tools to melt the ice. This can include spoons, paint brushes or cups and water, eye droppers etc.

Whilst our children are growing up and learning who they are, we can instil positive self-worth and self-image through affirmations. Here’s a few to try by Dorset MHST! 🩵
