This Su***de Prevention Month, we’re asking a different question: Who takes care of the parent taking care of everyone else?

Supporting parents means supporting the whole person— mental health, food, housing, basic needs, and connection.

Because sometimes, helping carry the load can make all the difference.

Parents deserve to be cared for, too.

We’re trying to pull off a little birthday surprise for Shan! 🎂💛

Our founder, Shan, turned 40! 🥳

Born in 1986, Shan started Mamas for Mamas with a big heart, a big vision, and a belief that no Mama or child should be left behind.

So we thought… what if we celebrated her by giving back to the organization she created?

We’re hoping to surprise Shan with:

40 donors × $40 = $1,600 for Mamas for Mamas 💛
If you’d like to be part of Shan’s 40 for 40, make a $40 donation and help us show her just how much the Mamas community means — and how far her vision has come.

🎈 40 years of Shan.

40 acts of kindness.

One very special birthday surprise.

And whatever you do…

🤫 DON’T TELL SHAN.

Happy 40th, Shan. We hope this one comes back to you. 💛

Back to school isn’t just pencils and backpacks.

It’s groceries disappearing faster because lunches are being packed again. Shoes that don’t fit anymore. Bus fees. School fees. Childcare. Sports registration. A calculator. Period products. A teenager who needs counselling. A parent trying to figure out which bill can wait until next payday.

If September hit your family harder than expected, you’re not behind and you’re not alone. There are supports available right here in Kelowna, and we’ve put them on the carousel.

You don’t need to know which program you qualify for. You don’t need to tell your story to six different organizations. You don’t need to wait until things become an emergency to ask for help.

Tell us what’s happening and we’ll help figure out the next step.

Back to school should be about kids wondering who their teacher is and whether their best friend is in their class. Not a parent lying awake wondering how they’re going to afford September.

No wrong door. No barrier to access. Leave no mama behind.

There are still SO many amazing items up for grabs in our Wildfire Relief Silent Auction - and many still have no bids!

Our auction has been live for about a week, but there’s still time to get your bids in. Every bid helps us support families impacted by wildfires across our community.
Proceeds from this auction go directly toward our wildfire relief efforts, helping families as they return home after evacuation - whether they need support replacing essentials, getting settled back in, or covering the many unexpected costs that come with returning after a wildfire.

And for families who have lost their homes entirely, we’re there to help them begin again - providing support as they navigate the overwhelming process of rebuilding their lives from the ground up.
There are still plenty of items waiting for their first bid.
Take a look, find something you love, and bid knowing that your purchase is helping a family affected by wildfire.

Got your eye on an items but don’t want to bid now and get out-bid later? Our auction page allows for auto-bidding, so when you get out-bid, your bid will automatically increase up to a limit that you can set.

Bid. Share. Help us help families come home.

So much love to the businesses that have contributed their items, services, etc. to help those impacted by wildfires:

We are so incredibly grateful for the generosity and support our community has shown families displaced by the wildfires. ❤️‍🩹 Your donations, shares, and willingness to help have made a real difference.

We need to make one very important update: As much as we appreciate every single person who wants to donate, WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY MORE USED ITEMS AT THIS TIME.

We now have more than enough gently used clothing and household items, and our limited space is needed for the most urgent supplies.

For anyone who would still like to help, we are accepting NEW items only, including:

• Gift cards for food and gas
• New underwear and socks — all sizes
• Deodorant
• Diapers — all sizes
• Baby wipes
• Formula
• Back-to-school supplies
• Snacks for kids and adults

Please know that this is not because used donations aren’t appreciated. They absolutely are. We are simply at capacity for used items right now and want to make sure every donation we receive can go directly toward what families need most.

If you have used items to donate, please hold onto them for now rather than bringing them to us. We will share an update if that need changes.

Thank you for continuing to show up for local families during an incredibly difficult time. Your generosity means more than we can say.
